sunday setlists…LIVE…11/29/09…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

as usual i was in the LIVE services at lima community church…here we go…

our services this weekend started off with our video anouncements…i then welcomed everyone and we dove right in…

1. everyone(praises)…by ross parsley

2. all because of Jesus…as performed by fee

then our head pastor, dan huckins, addressed the congregation…this was his first service back in over three months…he’s been on a sabbatical…he gave an update on health problems that he has been dealing with…he shared what God had laid on his heart for limacc to be doing more of…he also set up our offering time…

3. reign in us…by starfield

4. arms open wide…by hillsong united

5. how He loves us…as performed by kim walker

then we had our message given by the executive pastor, vince nelson…he really challenged men to step up and be the Godly leaders we should be…to rely on God’s grace to hold us together and do what He calls us to do…

6. arms open wide…by hillsong united (short reprise)

this weekend was just a little ODD for some reason…our rehearsal time went ok saturday night…nothing seemed too far out of the ordinary…there were a few things to work out, but nothing major…we had a good run through…but the service was DEAD…

we had a few errors musically that we didn’t have during rehearsal…but that wasn’t it…the service had ZIP for energy and no one was responding to anything…even when our head pastor got up to speak, no one even clapped…it was just ODD…and i really have no idea why…

sunday morning we all showed up and were still scratching our heads…we ran through the problem spots for music and got things ironed out…we pulled one song for the first service, just for the sake of time…and off we went…

right off the bat there was a buzz among the people and things were sooo much better than saturday night…the energy level was there and even more than normal for the 9am crowd…and there was a good response, both during our time of music but also to our head pastor’s return and to the challenge given during the message…

of course we get out there for 10:45am and it’s off the charts…there are people everywhere…the energy is HIGH…and the response was amazing…pastor dan got a standing ovation that lasted quite some time…people were singing and worshipping with everything they had…and i would say musically we didn’t do any better in that service than the others…there were still some mistakes that seemed random to me…but the people were there to worship and did so…their response to the message was awesome as well…

again, this weekend was just ODD…i’ve never seen this big of a difference in the three services…and it leaves me scratching me head as to why…why are the services sooo different…why can’t all of the services have the energy and response of the 10:45am service…and of course i have no answers…sooo i will have to trust God and seek His wisdom and understanding…i will seek Him for answers that i don’t have and for guidance in any changes that i need to make…

sooo there you have it…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

as usual i was in the LIVE services at lima community church…here we go…

this weekend we started our services off with our video anouncements and then i welcomed everyone…i also had to make a quick anouncement explaining the new “elements” we were using for communion…this was due to the flu season and wanting to be proactive…i also told them that there would be no handshakes during the greeting time, chest-bumps only!!!

1. here is our King…by david crowder

2. marvelous light…by charlie hall

i gave quick instructions that we were going to take communion…it gave time for ushers to pass out elements to anyone who may have been missed for some reason…i challenged them that communion was not only a time to reflect and make sure that we were in right standing…but it was also a time to celebrate what Christ has done in our lives through His blood…

3. mighty to save…by hillsong united

about half way through the song our executive pastor, vince nelson, came up and lead our communion time…he read through various scriptures and everyone took the elements together…and we finished up mighty to save…

then we had our offering set up and prayer over the veterans who were present…we also prayed for all of those involved in the shooting at fort hood…

4. all because of Jesus…by fee

this was followed up by our message…vince nelson tied up the series that we have been going through for the last five weeks…it was a short message, allowing for two video testimonies on how people in our congregation were hearing from God…of how He was at work…

5. go tell it…by lee mcderment

then we had an open mic testimony time…people were encouraged to share how God had been speaking to them…how He was at work in their lives…to simply share part of their story…

6. mighty to save (reprise)…by hillsong united

7. tell the world…by hillsong united

sooo, this past weekend was just INSANE for me…we had a lot of music for the services, which i love…but i decided to throw in two weddings on saturday afternoon…not good…but not as bad as the poor guy at the first wedding who played classical guitar…he had to play Jesus, joy of man’s desire for TWELVE minutes…his fingers had to hurt!!! anywho, back to the services…

our associate worship pastor came in and ran rehearsal for me, until i was able to make it in from the second wedding…he did a great job and the band was ready to go…we finished up rehearsal in plenty of time and headed back for our weekly tech/devotional time…most of the confusion was worked out during that time, but not all of it…

services really went great…we made some minor adjustments from saturday to sunday…that helped with transitions…the people really seemed to respond to the more celebratory approach to communion…plus hearing testimonies of how God is working really helped…i think God is up to something big in our body of believers…i think He’s got some BIG plans around the corner…

i can’t help but notice and mention the difference in services again…i love leading each service and how they are unique from one another, in their response…but the 10:45am service on sundays is just flat out AMAZING…the people are full of energy and ready to go as soon as they walk in…i just have to remind myself that it doesn’t mean the other services are any “worse” or that they are getting “less” out of it…they just respond differently…

great weekend at lima cc…i can’t wait for this weekend to get here!!!

as usual i was in the LIVE services at lima community church…well, i was in the sunday morning LIVE services…here we go…

this weekend we started our services off with our video anouncements and a quick meet and greet time…

1. one way…by hillsong united

2.everyday…by lincoln brewster

3. revelation song…by gateway worship

4. the more i seek You…by kari jobe

at this point the service host came up and set up our offering time, as well as made a couple of announcements…

5. hosanna…as recorded by starfield

then we had our message…this week our connections pastor, cindy porter, gave the message…it was focused on accountability and having a “running partner”…she challenged people to commit to finding and accountability partner and explained how to go about that…

6. the more i seek you…by kari jobe

sooo, this past weekend was AWESOME!!!

first i had a “c0-leader” for the second time in as many weeks…this time it was chris white…he actually lead on saturday night so i could spend time with my family…then when sunday morning came around…everyone lead at some point…i was able to just play my acoustic and worship with everyone, more than i was leading…

it’s not the norm for me…it felt a little odd, i must admit…i’m WAY too much of a perfectionist/control freak!!!

but we all survived…and i must say everyone did an amazing job…on the last song i didn’t even bother singing because they knocked it out of the park…i didn’t want to mess that up at all…i just felt like i was having too much fun and doing too little work!!!

it was funny because after the services i kept hearing the same compliments over and over…they were all about the song i didn’t sing on…everyone loved it sooo much…good thing i don’t depend on the encouragement of others!!!

there were some last minute changes, which is the norm…but these changes made the service a little simpler…we actually postponed communion due to a couple confirmed cases of H1N1 among our congregation…(we are making a couple adjustments in how we will be taking communion and continuing on this coming weekend…)

overall it was a great weekend at lima community church…and it was a great weekend for me!!!

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

as usual i was in the LIVE services at lima community church…here we go…

this weekend we started our services off with our video anouncements and a quick meet and greet time…

1. sing to the King…by billy foote

then i took some time to teach through the lyrics of “how He loves us”…i took them through the two verses and explained the word picture that the author was presenting us with…how powerful and passionate God’s love is…

2. how He loves us…as performed by kim walker

3. amazing grace (my chains are gone)…by chris tomlin

at this point the host in each service came up and set up the offering time…how in light of all that God has given us, through His love and grace…our response should be giving Him everything in return…

4. arms open wide…by hillsong united

then we had a great message given by the lead worship pastor, tim thurston…it was entitled, “i’m planning to change”…

_________________________________________________________________

overall it was an amazing weekend…right off the bat, i was able to start the rehearsal time 30 minutes later and let everyone leave early on saturday night…this cut their time from 4 1/2 hours down to 3 hours on saturday night…i also had a co-leader this weekend, kelly connor spallinger…she knocked it out of the park!!!

each service was unique in their reaction this weekend…i’ll post more about that later this week…but it was a different weekend…normally we have an acoustic(maybe two), a lead, a bass, maybe keys, maybe a second electric, and of course a full set inside this lovely plastic cage…ohhh, i almost forgot the CLICK!!!

but this weekend we didn’t have that…it was very stripped down…i played the grand, we had one acoustic, a bass, and percussion which consisted of congas and a snare…and there was NO CLICK!!!

we don’t do this type of a set up very often…but sometimes with scheduling, it’s a necessity…that was the case for this weekend…or so it seems…i think God was just laying things out for me and making sure that things were just as He wanted…

i enjoy mixing things up a little bit, every once in a while…the musicians with me this weekend really came prepared and did an amazing job of following me, as i did things different in each service…i really tried to be sensitive to each service and the needs…

i had also felt the need to teach through “how He loves us”…there have been several people who have come to me about this song…it’s packed full of words that are not so typical to worship songs…i wanted to take the time to walk through the word picture that we are given…i really wanted to drive home the last line of verse two…”i don’t have time to maintain these regrets when i think about the way, He loves me (us)”… i really felt that people needed to hear this and needed to quit maintaining regrets from the past…to allow God to break those chains…leading into the next song we did…

i’m not big on speaking, as the worship leader…others are and that’s fine…but i would rather lead the music and let the Holy Spirit speak through it…but this weekend was an exception…i pray that God was honored and that He impacted lives through it!!!

sooo there you have it…

6. i am free…REPRISE for sunday morning

_________________________________________________________________

sooo, overall it was a good weekend…as i mentioned before, it was just hard for me to get back in the groove…i had gone six weeks straight of ZERO days off, between my two jobs…i was absolutely SPENT and had nothing left in any tank…physically, spiritually, emotionally…NOTHING

but a little getaway to NC with friends helped that immensely…also having friday off and being able to worship/minister at a conference friday night helped…but saturday night i just wasn’t feeling like my normal, LET’S DO THIS, mentality…

we had a great devotional/discussion time saturday night before the service…everyone was sharing and a few were very encouraging to me…but we got out there for the service and had some sort of train wreck in the second song…i’m still not exactly sure what happened…but God guided us right through and we survived…

by the time sunday rolled around i was ready to go!!!

we made a few adjustments and worked out the problem areas…away we went…i think the final straw for me was singing “i am free”…i ABSOLUTELY LOVE singing that song and just giving it everything that God has given me!!!

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…LIVE…i’m back!!!
