molly’s got connections!!!

not too long ago the mckanna family started a nightly prayer time. we always pray for our meals as a family and i pray with molly in her room every night before going to bed. but without really organizing or planning anything, we just started praying together as a family.

to my surprise cooper does very well at being still. every night he is one thankful little boy. he spends his entire time of prayer thanking God for various things. usually he is thankful for the people that we have seen that day and for being able to go outside. he loves to go outside!

then molly takes her turn. we don’t prompt her to pray for things, but simply allow her to pray. so we can take NO credit…she will pray for cooper to share and not hit. she prays for the whole world to be a good family. but then she pulls this request out of no where that is just AWESOME!

recently she has prayed for her great grandma, “grandma ruby”, and that her back would get better. she prayed for our friends paul and jen to have strength for their work. (jen’s step-father had passed away, just two weeks after her grandfather had passed.) she prayed for grandpa’s throat to get better because he had a cold. she prayed for mommy’s neck to get better because it was hurting.

then she got me!

molly decided to start praying for “daddy’s voice, his heart, and his singing at church.” she has continued to pray for me in this area, every night this week! she asks God to help me be ready and for my voice to be strong…due to a long dramatic story that isn’t for the blog-osphere, i have only lead worship a handful of times in the last eleven months, in a public setting anyways…so i wasn’t real sure what i needed to be ready for, but i was VERY THANKFUL for her prayers and her concern for daddy!

then i had lunch yesterday…it looks like i may start leading worship twice a month, through a couple different opportunities. COOL! i woke up this morning and after getting ready i checked my cellphone. i had a text message telling me to take a look at facebook. my friend tug at WillRock4Food had posted an announcement…

Just opened my email to an offer that has been accepted…NICE…Kristian Stanfill will be in Lima, Ohio on November 6…

this was followed by instructions for two guys to put together bands for that night…i was one of those guys!?! who…WHAT?!?

this morning…thankful doesn’t come close to where i’m at! i can’t even begin to tell you! NONE of this may come together…it may ALL fall through…but it has reminded me that God is far from done with jon mark! He created me with a gift and wants me to use it!

it has also shown me that…

molly’s got connections!!!

ONE God…ONE Voice…ONE Night…

sooo, it’s over…kind of sort of…but not really…i’m still processing all that has taken place in the past month and especially yesterday as we gathered to worship ONE God, with ONE Voice, on ONE Night…

i’m not going to lie, there was a lot ton of work involved…and i’m sure that there are more than enough people annoyed with me at constantly asking for equipment…time…finances…TIME…and more equipment…but i needed every last bit of help that i could get…and i’m amazed at how God was able to pull everything together…in the end the entire thing cost less than $300…there were printing costs, the sound system, and a CCLI Event License…that was it!!!

i put together a 19 song setlist…NINETEEN…and had no clue if there would even be 19 people that would show up…but everyone pulled it together…no, GOD pulled it together…and i can say with confidence that we all gave it everything we had…

in the end somewhere around 350 people showed up to worship…with the exception of a few blunders on my part, i was able to worship freely in a way that i haven’t in a while…it was awesome to simply be a part of whatever God was doing…and He was doing something…as of this morning there was a total of $3,870.00 raised for Royal Family Kids Camp of Allen Co…i’m told that is the largest single donation ever for them…GOD is sooo good!!!

but just in case i tried to take some credit…or get a little prideful…molly had to give me her critique of the evening…”good job daddy. why did you sing so long?”…she even asked me that again this morning when she woke up…NICE!!!

here is the setlist we used…(90% sure on the artists)

sunday setlist…2010…take six…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness which is now being hosted over at the worship community…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

this past weekend was our PALM SUNDAY weekend…i was  in the LIVE services at lima community church…and God is continuing to work in the lives of people!!!

i kicked things off by reading psalm 66:1-2…it was a challenge that God had given me to praise Him for WHO He is…not just for all of the things that He does…and i asked the congregation to greet others and share WHO God was to them this week…

1. here is our King…by david crowder band

2. marvelous light…by charlie hall

then our host for the services came up and intro’d the video announcements and set up the offering time…

3. everlasting God…by lincoln brewster

4. sweetly broken…by jeremy riddle

5. arms open wide…by hillsong united

there was a roll-in video to the message given by our discipleship pastor, mike huckins…

6. arms open wide…a shortened reprise

then we had a time of prayer and announcement for our new off-site video venue…the first service for that venue will be on EASTER sunday…

this past weekend was pretty CRAZY…limacc hosted a community wide palm sunday service, on sunday evening…this meant having a very large set of risers on stage…sound equipment was being used to the max and had to be reconfigured for what we would need during our services…but it was all worth the extra work in the end!!!

the band was prepared and things really seemed to flow well during the services…i have to say that i never cease to be amazed at how God works out the setlists in advance…and then pulls them together with the message, even when i have NO CLUE what it’s going to be like…and this was just one of those weekends!!!

i challenged the musicians on sunday morning with psalm 66:1-2…the challenge was to take 5 minutes and simply right out WHO God is…nothing to do with what He does for us, simply WHO He is…it was awesome to hear the pens writing away and to see how fast the 5 minutes went by…then i tried to incorporate that at the beginning of the services…i just couldn’t really take the time to do it justice in the services…

then as we did the songs…it was great to see all kinds of things pop in my head about WHO God is…sooo many lyrics that just played right into the idea…it was cool to go back and talk about what everyone had written and even to hear how God was revealing more and more things to each of us…

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…2010…take six…

sunday setlists…2010…twin oaks style…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness which is now being hosted over at the worship community…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

i was  in ferrum, va this past weekend visiting my friends at twin oaks…this church REALLY knows how to worship and has been a blessing to me in the past…this weekend was no exception!!!

the services started out with a time of welcome and prayer…this was followed up by prayer for the offering…

1. reign in us…by starfield

then the pastor, terry covey (a mentor and GREAT friend of mine), gave his message from joshua 5…it was entitled, “the battle is the Lord’s”…it was very challenging for me…he opened up some things and put them in a light that i had not looked at them with before…(i will most likely share more about this later in the week)…

2. mighty to save…by hillsong united

3. Jesus paid it all…by kristian stanfill

4. Jesus Messiah…by chris tomlin

then terry came back and shared about the battles that needed to be handed over to God so He could bring healing that was needed…people were encouraged to come forward and pray…

5. Healer…by hillsong united

then there was another time of prayer and ministry…

6. revelation song…as performed by kari jobe (lead by amy)

sooo, it was a ROADTRIP weekend for the mckanna family…we were down in ferrum, va for a wedding on saturday and to then hang out with our friends at twin oaks…this was my third visit to the church, that i can remember, and every time i am blown away at their spirit and their PASSION to worship God!!!

twin oaks is a “small” country church…their weekend attendance is around 300 people…which is between a 6th and 7th of the size of limacc, where i am usually leading worship…but when i consider where the church is, it’s AMAZING to see what God is doing there and how He is at work…it was a 30 minute drive to the nearest motel…NO JOKE!!!

not only that, we DIDN’T have an electric guitar, let a lone a lead…we didn’t use a click…we didn’t have any fancy lighting…yet God is working and moving and changing the lives of people…(insert sarcastic…NO…)

the service was great…actually both services were great…but the second service especially…when we were ready to start men were hauling in chairs from some other part of the church…there weren’t enough seats for the bodies that were coming in…if they have fire codes in the middle of no where…we were breaking them!?! (i did see a sign that said “no open fires until after 4pm?!?)…i was blown away by what i was seeing…then we actually got going…by the time we got to revelation song, i’m pretty sure the roof was raised a little no SERIOUSLY these people were singing like we had already made it to heaven and this was the REAL THING!!!

i absolutely love being a part of what God is doing…regardless of where it’s at…regardless of the “style” or size of the church…God is still God and people were worshiping Him with everything they had…AWESOME!!!

it was just what i needed!!!

so there you have it…

sunday setlists…2010…twin oaks style…

sunday setlists…2010…take FOUR…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness which is now being hosted over at the worship community…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

i was  in the LIVE services at lima community church…and it was another great weekend!!!

this weekend we started things off with our video announcements and then we jumped right in…

1. all because of Jesus…by fee

2. healer…by hillsong united

then we had communion set-up…this was done by a different host in each of the three services…the elements were passed and then taken together, during the following song…

3. revelation song…as performed by kari jobe

this was followed up by our verbal announcements as well as the offering set-up…again this was handled by the host of each service…

4. what faith can do…by kutless

then we had our roll-in video for our current series…healing for all of us…and the message was given by the executive pastor at limacc, vince nelson…the message was entitled “enough faith” and based out of mark 9…and was followed up by a ministry/prayer time…

___________________________________________________________________

sooo, this past weekend was something else…there were several FIRSTS…we had an acoustic player join us for the FIRST time…he broke the head off of a bridge pin, a FIRST…and later broke a string…then during the saturday night service the low G string on the baldwin…broke…a FIRST…we also had a brand new boom stand just snap at the boom…a FIRST…and in the last service a vocalist laid their mic down in the room where we sit during the services…a young boy, will, decided to turn it on during the ministry/prayer time and see if it worked…IT DID…a FIRST…you would think that the services would have just been a wreck, but my guess is that no one knew anything was going on (other than hearing will)…unless they noticed that someone else was playing my guitar and i had a different one as well…?

the band pulled things together quickly this weekend…there weren’t any real trouble spots musically as we got ready…i will say the song that was the most fun, CHALLENGING, and powerful for me was the kutless tune…there are some GREAT lyrics in that (not to mention HIGH notes) and it had me really meditating on a couple verses in psalm…

psalm 46:1-2a

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear,

no matter what we are going through…no matter what we are in the midst of…no matter how we got there…God is ever-present with us…we need to have faith…we need to trust Him…we MUST NOT fear!!!

if you want to view any of the weekend services of limacc, go check out our livestream page…(the services are listed by date…there has recently been a delay in getting those videos up…this should be resolved soon!?!)

well, there you have it…
