do what You will…

sooo, yesterday i got an e-mail from a man who attends our church…he wanted to share with me a song…also the fact that God had given him a vision of me leading that song at limacc…this is what he said…

In the past I would have just brushed this off as my imagination at work, but God has been working on that “selfish stinkin thinkin”. So I am just following through on what I saw, (obedience)  If this is from God then he will lay it on your heart in his time.

i finally had time to sit down this morning and check out the video for this tune…check it out…

i can’t tell you how much i NEEDED this song right now…i NEEDED to hear and to SAY the words that are being sung…i’m sooo thankful for this e-mail and for this man’s obedience!!!

LORD…

do what You will…

this was a tough weekend, but i would say that GOD pulled it off quite well…first we did our set acoustic…we had a click track/video with one tune…for the band of the weekend there were three new songs…we also had some MAJOR tech issues due to a power surge in the community…it destroyed our matrix controlling the screens through out the church…

good news is our tech staff were on top of their game and got things up and running before the services…also the band did a GREAT job of putting the music together…especially with the two “feature” songs…and i have to say that “follow You” has become a favorite tune of mine!!!

it was a great weekend at limacc…the last i heard there was $210,000.00 pledged for missions…

sooo there you have it…it’s LATE…it’s brief…but you have it!!!

sunday setlists…2010…take five…

follow You…

sooo, this past weekend we did this song at limacc…follow You, by leeland…it’s been on my mind and heart NON-STOP…check it out…

neither one!?!

sooo, this past weekend i was hanging out with the covey family down in ferrum, va…my family and i visited twin oaks baptist church on sunday…and i was ROCKED by a message from pastor terry…i had to go back and read the passage…and read the passage…and read the passage…i’m still reading over the passage!!!

he was speaking on joshua 5: 13-15…you can read through some of his notes here

the part that really stuck out to me and that i’m still processing, is the response of the man standing there with sword in hand…mainly because of Who He states that He is…and then how He tells joshua that he’s neither a friend or a foe???

neither one!?!

joshua is leading the nation of israel at this point…God’s chosen people…they have done the whole 40 years in the wilderness thing…they are on a journey and have just crossed over the jordan river…they are following God’s lead as well as joshua’s lead at this point…not to mention the fact that all of the men had just gone through this medical procedure that God had instructed them to go through (you can read about that, at the beginning of chapter 5)…yet God is not on their side???

they were supposed to go conquer jericho…the biggest…strongest city of canaan…with this HUGE wall around it…they don’t have any weapons to speak of, or at least not weapons that can take down this wall or this city…and then God tells joshua that He’s not on their side!!!

joshua’s response is HUGE…facing what most would see as a hopeless situation…he falls on his face and says, ok God i’m Yours…i’m doing whatever you have for me to do!!!

he didn’t whine…he didn’t run cry to all of his friends…he didn’t start blaming people…he placed his life in God’s hands and trusted Him…now that’s a leader!!!

but in my mind i have to ask why God would do this…and pastor terry hit on this BIG TIME…he said that God was showing joshua that it wasn’t about him…it wasn’t about the nation of isreal…it wasn’t about jericho…it was about GOD and HIS will being done!!!

i’m really focusing on this passage right now…on the implications that it has, not just for joshua, but for me as well…i know there are areas in my life that i have made about “me”…i have made life more about “my goals” or “my dreams” and less about God’s will…i can hear God telling me…

neither one!?!

sunday setlists…2010…twin oaks style…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness which is now being hosted over at the worship community…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

i was  in ferrum, va this past weekend visiting my friends at twin oaks…this church REALLY knows how to worship and has been a blessing to me in the past…this weekend was no exception!!!

the services started out with a time of welcome and prayer…this was followed up by prayer for the offering…

1. reign in us…by starfield

then the pastor, terry covey (a mentor and GREAT friend of mine), gave his message from joshua 5…it was entitled, “the battle is the Lord’s”…it was very challenging for me…he opened up some things and put them in a light that i had not looked at them with before…(i will most likely share more about this later in the week)…

2. mighty to save…by hillsong united

3. Jesus paid it all…by kristian stanfill

4. Jesus Messiah…by chris tomlin

then terry came back and shared about the battles that needed to be handed over to God so He could bring healing that was needed…people were encouraged to come forward and pray…

5. Healer…by hillsong united

then there was another time of prayer and ministry…

6. revelation song…as performed by kari jobe (lead by amy)

sooo, it was a ROADTRIP weekend for the mckanna family…we were down in ferrum, va for a wedding on saturday and to then hang out with our friends at twin oaks…this was my third visit to the church, that i can remember, and every time i am blown away at their spirit and their PASSION to worship God!!!

twin oaks is a “small” country church…their weekend attendance is around 300 people…which is between a 6th and 7th of the size of limacc, where i am usually leading worship…but when i consider where the church is, it’s AMAZING to see what God is doing there and how He is at work…it was a 30 minute drive to the nearest motel…NO JOKE!!!

not only that, we DIDN’T have an electric guitar, let a lone a lead…we didn’t use a click…we didn’t have any fancy lighting…yet God is working and moving and changing the lives of people…(insert sarcastic…NO…)

the service was great…actually both services were great…but the second service especially…when we were ready to start men were hauling in chairs from some other part of the church…there weren’t enough seats for the bodies that were coming in…if they have fire codes in the middle of no where…we were breaking them!?! (i did see a sign that said “no open fires until after 4pm?!?)…i was blown away by what i was seeing…then we actually got going…by the time we got to revelation song, i’m pretty sure the roof was raised a little no SERIOUSLY these people were singing like we had already made it to heaven and this was the REAL THING!!!

i absolutely love being a part of what God is doing…regardless of where it’s at…regardless of the “style” or size of the church…God is still God and people were worshiping Him with everything they had…AWESOME!!!

it was just what i needed!!!

so there you have it…

sunday setlists…2010…twin oaks style…
