SOOO, this past weekend i was back at lima community church…but still “off”…it was nice to sleep in a little bit and then go with my family to church…the music was great…but i became very distraught during the message!?!
our lead pastor was speaking…it was some great stuff on studying the bible…people were really tuned in…but then he just went on this rabbit trail and…
he gave elton the shaft!!!
he told about this song that was stuck in his head all week…how he doesn’t like elton john…and how this song makes him NAUSEOUS…the song was “i guess that’s why they call it the blues”…here’s the song if you have lived in a box for the last 30 years and aren’t familiar with it…
how could he do this???
don’t get me wrong here…i don’t approve of elton john’s lifestyle…but he is an AMAZING song writer, pianist, and performer…AMAZING…and if you know me, i just can’t let a statement like this go without notice…i mean…
he gave elton the shaft!!!
sooo, this weekend i was thinking i could open with that song…or at least a piece of it during the services…and when putting it on facebook i got a lot of “double dog dares”…a “triple dog dare”…and i was even called a sissy and told i wouldn’t do it…but i’m considering sources here…not to mention that none of them will be up there with me, nor do they sign my paycheck!?!
but i AM going to do it!!!
there is a catch though…i want people to put their MONEY where their MOUTH is…our church is collecting money for Haiti and all the relief efforts there…and i would like join in…SOOO…IF, IF, IF…i get $100 in pledges to that fund, I WILL incorporate that song this weekend!!! (one other catch…DON’T tell DAN!!!)
you can pledge $1…or the full$100…it makes me no difference…but there has to be $100 total…and i will be taking part in this as well…I WILL match the first $250 that is received this weekend…i will make sure that there is a special bucket at the information counter, closest to the church offices…for the HAITI CHALLENGE…you drop your donations in there!!!
for now, you just leave a comment on this post…with the amount that you are pledging…(mind you…people pledging need to attend our church!!!)and IF we get $100..
I’M IN!!!
because…
he gave elton the shaft!!!

What a wonderful way to raise even more for our brothers and sisters in Haiti! I’ll pledge the first $100 right now, and want to encourage everyone else with a sense of humor to pledge what they can.
We can add a little more humor to our service, but more importantly add joy to the lives of others in Haiti, starting with the help they need just to survive.
C’mon! We need everyone to step up on this one. Even if you’ve already given, can’t you give more?
God has blessed me the past three months, as I started a business in these exciting economic times – I’m glad to give back a little more. He also blessed me with a astounding recovery to rotator cuff surgery – I can do all things through Christ!

I’m in for $50. However, I’m siding with Dan on the nauseousness.

I agree Elton is a great song writer and artist in spite of his lifestyle. A great way to raise funds for Haiti (not to mention poke Dan a little).
Put me in for $20.00

Man…
I completely agree with you! Elton John is an EXCELLENT musician and song writer… “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” anyone? So yeah… you’re on, John.
Put me in for $25.00!
