my knees hurt…

sooo, i’m studying for a lesson that i am supposed to give this weekend…my focus is going to be about living for today and embracing all that God has given us…i even went and purchased a video to go with it…but i didn’t have a great illustration…i have to have an illustration!!!

then i got this text message this afternoon…it was from one of my closest friends in life…he has been for years…he has been through a lot ton with me…so getting the text was no big deal…but what was contained in the text is a different story!!!

he told me that his wife most likely has breast cancer and the doctor said that it didn’t look good…she just found something out of the ordinary on tuesday and had some tests run on wednesday…tomorrow they go in to to get the more specific results…then he said, ” i can’t live without her”…WHAT?!?

my head just started racing…my heart was pounding as if it wanted out…all kinds of questions…all kinds of feelings and emotions…

they aren’t the first people to have this happen…i know that…they aren’t even the first, for people that i know personally…but this is not supposed to happen to them…they already went through a battle to have children…that took about everything out of them and then some…not to mention the fact that they now have 8 month old twins at home…

tonight kasey and i went for a visit with them, their children, and her parents…it wasn’t what i would call fun…but we had a great time of prayer with them…it was prayer to the point that…

my knees hurt…

it’s amazing how quickly perspective can change…it’s amazing how strong He is, when we are weak…it’s amazing how passionate our prayers can be, when we want them to be…so passionate that…

my knees hurt…

i press on…

sooo, if you have been in church for any part of your life, you have heard this passage…

philippians 3:12-14(NLT)

12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

my question is…was the focus of the message you heard or the devotional that you read on the present or the future???

or if this is the first time you’re reading it…do you see the focus being on the present or the future???

i press on…

sunday setlists…LIVE…12/6/09…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

as usual i was in the LIVE services at lima community church…here we go…

1. everlasting God…by lincoln brewster

2. Jesus paid it all…as performed by kristian stanfill

then we had our communion set up by the service host…

3. revelation song…by gateway worship

we took the elements following the first chorus of revelation song and then finished it out the song…and our service host came back up to pray and introduce the video announcements…this was followed by a couple more announcements and the offering set up…

4. rise and sing…by fee

5. i am free…by ross parsley

then we had a roll-in video to the message…it was our head pastor’s first week back to speak after a three month sabbatical…so the IT staff decided to “elf” him for the roll-in…it was a nice welcome back!!! the message was entitled “Christmas is for the flawed”…we were challenged to get our hands out of the monkey jar and quit holding on to past mistakes or struggles…

6. rise and sing…by fee

_____________________________________________________________

sooo, this weekend i was absolutely jacked to introduce a new song to everyone…the theme to the message was going to be on redemption…sooo when i was preparing it seemed to be the perfect opportunity to introduce  “rise and sing”…i had been waiting for the chance to do it for a month or so…but nothing had really worked out…but the opening line just rang in my head, “if you’re alive and you’ve been redeemed…RISE AND SING”!!!

the services all went well and by far the majority of the comments, both good and bad, were about the new song…most people really enjoyed it and the song just stuck…each service had people jump up and do exactly what the song was telling them to do…i didn’t even have to ask!!!

the funny part for me was that we followed that song up with “i am free”…and if you’re familiar with that song, it’s up beat and high energy…HOWEVER it was DRAGGING compared to “rise and sing”…i never thought i would have that issue, but hey…

the band did a great job with the music this weekend and coming prepared…we did have to do a little extra work on some things, but it was more than worth it…there were last minute changes in two of the services and the band did a great job of following me…even when i forgot the changes…the good thing is that i was able to smile and laugh at myself inside!!!

it was a great weekend at limacc…it was great to have pastor dan back speaking…God is continuing to work and reach people…i’m SOOO thankful that He allows me to be a part of what He is doing each week!!!

sooo there you have it…
