sooo, this past weekend was very busy for me…busy, but good…friday night i had the priviledge of being in defiance, oh for a conference…i was there to sing one song, “who am i”, by casting crowns…i was also there to do whatever they needed me to do…i ended up running media, printing out a couple outlines for one of the speakers, and playing for the ministry time…it was great to be there and just be able to worship with both old and new friends…the speakers were very down-to-earth and practical…it was awesome to be a part of what God was doing there…even if it was a “women’s conference”…
then came my weekend of work at the church…every weekend i try to have a devotional time prepared…this weekend i didn’t feel so prepared, but God got me through…on saturday we looked at i timothy 4 and specifically verses 13-16…
13 Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them. 14 Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you. 15 Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.
we had a good discussion on the different ways that we neglect the spritual gifts that God has given us…and i challenged them with the importance of giving everything we have to what God has for us to do…to “throw” ourselves into what He has for us…
then sunday was a little different…i couldn’t get the lyrics out of my head…”the more i seek You, the more i find You. the more i find You, the more i love You”…it’s the song i shared last week…my first challenge was that it all starts with me seeking God…and if i’m not finding God or loving Him more each day…that means i’m not seeking Him, that’s…
where it all starts…
i did a search for the word “seek” and there were 157 results on BibleGateway…we had a discussion on what it means to seek God…what that requires of each of us…
the one analogy that i liked most is a game that molly has now grown to love…hide and seek… when molly is the one seeking, she doesn’t just sit there after there done counting…nor does she just take a stroll to maybe/hopefully find those who are hiding…molly is RUNNING to find that person and usually screaming the whole time…there’s a lot of energy and excitement involved…
then take into account the fact that God isn’t hiding from us…He wants us to find Him…it’s just like when molly is the person “hiding”…as soon as you yell, “ready or not here i come”…she comes running out to meet you and yells in excitement…”you found me!!!”
sooo, today i want remind you that, seeking God is…
where it all starts…
