sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!
as usual i was in the LIVE services at lima community church…here we go…
this weekend we started our services off with our video anouncements and a quick meet and greet time…
1. sing to the King…by billy foote
then i took some time to teach through the lyrics of “how He loves us”…i took them through the two verses and explained the word picture that the author was presenting us with…how powerful and passionate God’s love is…
2. how He loves us…as performed by kim walker
3. amazing grace (my chains are gone)…by chris tomlin
at this point the host in each service came up and set up the offering time…how in light of all that God has given us, through His love and grace…our response should be giving Him everything in return…
4. arms open wide…by hillsong united
then we had a great message given by the lead worship pastor, tim thurston…it was entitled, “i’m planning to change”…

overall it was an amazing weekend…right off the bat, i was able to start the rehearsal time 30 minutes later and let everyone leave early on saturday night…this cut their time from 4 1/2 hours down to 3 hours on saturday night…i also had a co-leader this weekend, kelly connor spallinger…she knocked it out of the park!!!
each service was unique in their reaction this weekend…i’ll post more about that later this week…but it was a different weekend…normally we have an acoustic(maybe two), a lead, a bass, maybe keys, maybe a second electric, and of course a full set inside this lovely plastic cage…ohhh, i almost forgot the CLICK!!!
but this weekend we didn’t have that…it was very stripped down…i played the grand, we had one acoustic, a bass, and percussion which consisted of congas and a snare…and there was NO CLICK!!!
we don’t do this type of a set up very often…but sometimes with scheduling, it’s a necessity…that was the case for this weekend…or so it seems…i think God was just laying things out for me and making sure that things were just as He wanted…
i enjoy mixing things up a little bit, every once in a while…the musicians with me this weekend really came prepared and did an amazing job of following me, as i did things different in each service…i really tried to be sensitive to each service and the needs…
i had also felt the need to teach through “how He loves us”…there have been several people who have come to me about this song…it’s packed full of words that are not so typical to worship songs…i wanted to take the time to walk through the word picture that we are given…i really wanted to drive home the last line of verse two…”i don’t have time to maintain these regrets when i think about the way, He loves me (us)”… i really felt that people needed to hear this and needed to quit maintaining regrets from the past…to allow God to break those chains…leading into the next song we did…
i’m not big on speaking, as the worship leader…others are and that’s fine…but i would rather lead the music and let the Holy Spirit speak through it…but this weekend was an exception…i pray that God was honored and that He impacted lives through it!!!
sooo there you have it…
sunday setlists…LIVE…10/25/09…
Our worship team is learning Arms Open Wide right now – hope to intro to church soon!
