sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…go check it out!!!

i was back for week eleven in the LIVE services of lima community church…i was only leading the sunday morning services…thanks to another worship leader covering saturday night for me…so here we go…

i showed up as usual at 7:00am…i started setting things up for the morning and tuned my guitar…then at 7:29am the excitement began…POWER OUTAGE…it was all over our town, taking out 25,000 customers…for some reason the churches weren’t immune to this…we brainstormed and came up with three options on what to do…fortunately the Lord provided (imagine that) some AMAZING weather…sooo we had church outside…volunteers who were there early were setting up chairs for those who would need to sit down…i called over to our venue service and asked their musicians to come on over since they had no power either…we came up with a spur of the moment setlist that the musicians and congregation would know…without any charts or lyrics…we had three acoustics…djembe…congas…and shaker…and here is our setlist…

1. Your grace is enough…by matt mahar

2. all we need…by charlie hall

3. how great is our God…by chris tomlin

our connections pastor, cindy porter, set up the service for us before we started the music…then our “new traditions” venue pastor, jim mason, came up to set up the offering time and gave some general information about the venue and it’s start on 9/13/09…

4. hosanna…as performed by starfield

then our executive pastor came up and gave a shortened version of his prepared message…at the end he had a time of prayer and ministry…and i came back out…

5. surrender…by lincoln brewster

we really had a great attendance with all things considered…some people even brought their lawn chairs up from the cars…i would like to note at this point…our first service on sunday starts at 9:00am…the POWER came back on at 8:59am…go figure…

as soon as the service was over…everything was tore down and back inside we went to prepare for the second service, as originally laid out…and here it is…

our service kicked off with a short video announcement clip…

1. everyone (praises)…by ross parsley

2. hosanna…as performed by starfield

3. amazed…by lincoln brewster

4. how marvelous (my Savior’s love)…as performed by passion artists

then we had a time of prayer for two mission trips from our church who are currently in ukraine and peru…our offering was set up by our “new traditions” venue pastor…

5. mighty to save…by ben fielding and reuben morgan

then we had our roll-in video and our executive pastor, vince nelson, came up and gave the message…it was continuing our series on “life verses”, week 4…at the end of his message he had a time of prayer and ministry…i came back out…

6. surrender…by lincoln brewster

WOW!!!overall things really went smooth…seriously…things came together quite well and i’m guessing that most people would have NO CLUE about all that was happening behind the scenes…we had a great response during the ministry time at the end of the second services…which really put things into perspective for me!!!

but the whole morning i felt like i was running in circles and my mind was in 47 different places…i had too many songs and lyrics going through my head and i have to say it got to me…i killed the intro to “amazed” in the second service, which is of course all acoustic…and by the end of the services i had ZERO patience for people who wanted to come and question me about music or who wrote what song…i justed wanted to crawl into a dark hole and not come out for a few hours…but that’s not an option now is it!!!

but i survived and so did everyone else…it was great to see God working in the chaos!!!

sooo there you have it…

as stated before, in FB, an awesome job indeed, with all the extra stress, you hold it together very well. I did mention to my husband, that I am sure you would be grading yourself on all that happened that morning, but in our book you and the entire LCCN praise team deserve an Aplus…. God always shines on us no matter the season
