sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…go check it out!!!
i was back for week ten in the LIVE services of lima community church…i was only leading the sunday morning services…thanks to our lead worship pastor covering saturday night for me…so here we go…
our service kicked off with a short video announcement clip and our weekly meet and greet time…
1. everlasting God…by lincoln brewster
2. Your grace is enough…by matt mahar
then we had a scripture “video”…isaiah 53:2b-6…
3. You are my King…by billy foote
i prayed at this point and then shared with them what God had been talking to me about…the verse that was hitting home was hebrews 10:14…
14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy. (NLT)
i have been challenged with the fact that i am being made holy…it’s a PROCESS…in that process i am going to get off track…i’m going to grab hold of things that are going to slow me down…and i need to get rid of those things…i need to lay them down at the cross where that one offering was made…
4. lay it down…by dave lubben
then our executive pastor came up and set up our offering time and prayer for two upcoming missions trips that our church is taking…
5. Hosanna…by starfield
then we had our roll-in video for week three of our series “life verses”…our speaker this week was scott peterson, chaplain at Mount Vernon Nazarene University…

this weekend went quite well…i showed up sunday morning and the band was READY to go…everything was rock solid and i must say that was nice!!! the services themselves were short all weekend…also the guest speaker did not request music after his message, so the band was cut loose early both saturday night and sunday morning…i like to be able to do that from time to time…it gives them a chance to spend more time with their families…
one thing that i really enjoyed…i was able to sing some harmony…i had one of our female vocalists lead “You are our King”…then there was another male singing the tenor line…sooo i just had to find a third part and let loose a little bit…LOVED IT!!!
one thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was a feeling of disconnect with the people in the service…i’m going to just blame it on the summer, but it was odd…one week everyone is very actively involved in the service…the next week people just look at me like i’m from some other planet…(though i may resemble something from far a far away planet)…it just doesn’t make sense!!! i can’t really put a finger on it…there is no pattern…it doesn’t seem to be dependant on the music that is chosen…i have no clue?!?
sooo there you have it…
sunday setlists…LIVE…take ten…
The choice of music was wonderful, Lay it Down, made me think, made me dig deep, made me cry… And I thank you, I know that sounds goofy for a thank you for tears, but it has been so long since any worship leader has done that for me, you make me dig deep within, so I CAN hear God, and feel His presence, don’t have enuff adjectives to give you Jon, but thank you…. As for the congregation, I truly believe it has to do with some uncertaincy right now, people are questioning about the health thing with Pastor Dan, and this long sabbatical, people sense some rippling in the waters between the pastors, there is unsettlement at LCCN and the people feel it, and NO one is giving them the answeres. Lack of the newest overused word of transparency!! I think our numbers are going in decline thru the next several months and it is sad, as for them looking at you with “deer eyes” I know sometimes I feel that I just want to listen to your love for God as you sing, you have an amazing charisma with music, so did the gal who sang with you this week. Kudo’s to her as well. Hang with us all at Lima Live, YOU are making a big difference, and it is very appreciated by so many of the parishioners, its a wonder you don’t get bombarded before during and after with all the fans. You are praised alot by so many, take it humbly you are so very good for our church, just hang with us, and I pray soon we will blow the walls out with worship and praise!!!!
@linda…i appreciate the words of encouragement…but i would ask people who are questioning or worried…who they are placing their faith in??? God is capable of working in these next few months, whether pastor dan is there with us or not…and i’m VERY excited for dan’s return and to see/hear about how God has worked in his life!!!
also i can say that the attendance numbers for this past weekend were VERY SOLID…not something that i’m concerned about at all…
I am not quick on witt to tell people how you stated it, as to who they place their faith in.. I thank you for giving me that sentence and I will try to remember it the next time someone approaches me or I carry the negativity around with me.. Again thank you for your steppin up for God, it is appreciated by me,,,,
