sunday setlists…LIVE…take twelve…

leading

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…this is the ONE YEAR anniversary for  the craziness…i can’t believe it’s been a year already…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

i was back for week twelve in the LIVE services of lima community church…so here we go…

right off the bat i welcomed everyone and read romans 6:5-7…while the band was vamping on the intro of the first song…

1. i am free…by ross parsley

2. everyday…by lincoln brewster

3. for Your name…by desperation band

4. from the inside out…by hillsong united

at this point i prayed and our journey group pastor, brian romine, came up…he did a great job of talking us through a short video of last week’s 9am service…of how God provided and how we really didn’t need a building with electricity to hold church…he also set up the offering time…

5. Jesus Messiah…by chris tomlin

then we had week five of our series “life verses”…we had a guest speaker, jeff…VERY POWERFUL message this week (i will get a link to the podcast as soon as it’s up!) right out of ephesians 2:1-10

saturday night we closed out with a reprise of “i am free”…but once i heard the message i consulted with a few other leaders and we made some changes…we put a ministry time at the end of the message…this mean changing the final song…

WOW!!! let’s just say that God was takin’ care of business this weekend at lima community church…in my opinion the message could not have fit any better with the music…jeff spoke with some crazy boldness and the Holy Spirit had free reign…he was calling out the dead people in the congregation to come to life…he was calling out the people who had life, but also had some dead areas in their life to get rid of…

musically we had some issues…there were kinks that got worked out…some of which we didn’t have time to work on all that much…but God once again proved to be SO MUCH BIGGER than any issues we had…

in fact i can say with confidence that i’ve never been a part of a service where i could see God working like i did in our 10:45am service on sunday…i could sense from the start that people were ready to encounter God… that sense got stronger as the service went on…and then when we did our final song…WOW…i had to keep my eyes closed just so i could stay focused and not lose it…God was takin’ care of business and i’m just thankful to have been a part of it!!!

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…LIVE…take twelve…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…go check it out!!!

i was back for week eleven in the LIVE services of lima community church…i was only leading the sunday morning services…thanks to another worship leader covering saturday night for me…so here we go…

i showed up as usual at 7:00am…i started setting things up for the morning and tuned my guitar…then at 7:29am the excitement began…POWER OUTAGE…it was all over our town, taking out 25,000 customers…for some reason the churches weren’t immune to this…we brainstormed and came up with three options on what to do…fortunately the Lord provided (imagine that) some AMAZING weather…sooo we had church outside…volunteers who were there early were setting up chairs for those who would need to sit down…i called over to our venue service and asked their musicians to come on over since they had no power either…we came up with a spur of the moment setlist that the musicians and congregation would know…without any charts or lyrics…we had three acoustics…djembe…congas…and shaker…and here is our setlist…

1. Your grace is enough…by matt mahar

2. all we need…by charlie hall

3. how great is our God…by chris tomlin

our connections pastor, cindy porter, set up the service for us before we started the music…then our “new traditions” venue pastor, jim mason, came up to set up the offering time and gave some general information about the venue and it’s start on 9/13/09…

4. hosanna…as performed by starfield

then our executive pastor came up and gave a shortened version of his prepared message…at the end he had a time of prayer and ministry…and i came back out…

5. surrender…by lincoln brewster

we really had a great attendance with all things considered…some people even brought their lawn chairs up from the cars…i would like to note at this point…our first service on sunday starts at 9:00am…the POWER came back on at 8:59am…go figure…

as soon as the service was over…everything was tore down and back inside we went to prepare for the second service, as originally laid out…and here it is…

our service kicked off with a short video announcement clip…

1. everyone (praises)…by ross parsley

2. hosanna…as performed by starfield

3. amazed…by lincoln brewster

4. how marvelous (my Savior’s love)…as performed by passion artists

then we had a time of prayer for two mission trips from our church who are currently in ukraine and peru…our offering was set up by our “new traditions” venue pastor…

5. mighty to save…by ben fielding and reuben morgan

then we had our roll-in video and our executive pastor, vince nelson, came up and gave the message…it was continuing our series on “life verses”, week 4…at the end of his message he had a time of prayer and ministry…i came back out…

6. surrender…by lincoln brewster

WOW!!!overall things really went smooth…seriously…things came together quite well and i’m guessing that most people would have NO CLUE about all that was happening behind the scenes…we had a great response during the ministry time at the end of the second services…which really put things into perspective for me!!!

but the whole morning i felt like i was running in circles and my mind was in 47 different places…i had too many songs and lyrics going through my head and i have to say it got to me…i killed the intro to “amazed” in the second service, which is of course all acoustic…and by the end of the services i had ZERO patience for people who wanted to come and question me about music or who wrote what song…i justed wanted to crawl into a dark hole and not come out for a few hours…but that’s not an option now is it!!!

but i survived and so did everyone else…it was great to see God working in the chaos!!!

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…LIVE…take eleven…

think about it!!!

this guy shared a video on his blog…and i just had to share it with you…PLEASE watch this video all the way through…PLEASE…

think about it!!!

persitence and passion are key!!!

molly's the boss!!!

sooo, in recent weeks my daughter has developed a habit…it has become something that i really would like to get a handle on…NOW…and as you see from the picture above, i think this is something we have “created” if you know what i mean…

regardless of the timing, if molly wants your attention…SHE’S GONNA GET IT!!!

she will call my name 47 times if she needs to…when molly wants my attention and wants to tell me something, she is going to do whatever it takes to get my attention…and she gets it…i stop the conversation i’m in or whatever i’m doing…now it’s not always to give her the attention she is wanting, but she gets my attention none the less…

persistence is key!!!

usually my response is to tell her that she has to WAIT…until i’m done doing whatever i’m doing…or until i’m done talking to whomever i am talking to…and the result of this…usually a short period of crying yelling…at which time everyone involved is reminded that she is 2 and not 16…

but other times i’m just “busy”…and by the third or fourth time she is calling me i stop what i’m doing and give her my undivided attention…and i have to say that i just get tired of this sometimes…and she doesn’t care…she just has something to tell me and is going to do whatever it takes to tell me…she is VERY passionate about it…regardless of what it is…

passion is key!!!

and that is the lesson that i am trying to grasp…i’m challenged with being passionate about life…about going to my Father with passion…about being persistent with my Father…about not allowing a period of waiting to take away my passion…because…

persistence and passion are key!!!
