sunday setlists…LIVE…take six…

cropped-leading-worship.jpg

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…go check it out!!!

i was back for week six in the LIVE services of lima community church…i know i’m late getting this done but hey…here we go…

our services started off with the video announcements and a meet and greet time…then we jumped right in…

1. awesome is the Lord most high…by passion

2. all we need…by charlie hall

then we had communion set up…saturday night this was done by our lead worship pastor tim thurston…on sunday morning it was done by our executive pastor vince nelson…and we started the next song…

3. revelation song…by gateway worship (first verse & chorus)

then they came back up and the congregation took the elements as one…and we went right back into the music…

4. revelation song…by gateway worship (verse two through the end)

**on saturday night i shared scripture here from phillipians 2 and we sang the last verse of revelation song again, as well as a couple choruses

then we had our offering set up and took the offering…

5. everyday…by hillsong united

then our lead pastor dan huckins brought our weekend message…we are still in our series called “txting”…this week’s question was “When R U Comin Back?”…with a focus on living life expecting Christ’s return at any moment…being ready…

6. i wish we’d all been ready…by larry norman (i only did this song for the two sunday morning services, after hearing the message saturday night…it fit perfectly…)

then the lead pastor prayed and invited the congregation to live expectantly…

7. everyday…by hillsong united (started with the bridge and finished out the song)

the lead pastor then came back up for the benediction…we played through a couple choruses of everyday as people were leaving…

sooo, we started out with four songs…and in the end we had a TON of music in these services…it was week two for revelation song…i have to say that this song is going to be a hit with our congregation…let absolutely love the song and sing it with a great deal of passion…i felt a good solid energy in the room for each of the services…people were there and seemed to be expectant of experiencing God…

overall, i would say that all of the services were “sloppy”…there were things in each service that could have been done better…things could have been smoother…and i’m not real sure why, because those things weren’t the same with each service…the perfectionist that i am walked away from the weekend thinking that it could have and should have been done better…i didn’t like having that feeling at all…

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…LIVE…take six…

overcome with pride once again!!!

playing in the rain

sooo, last night i was putting little miss molly to bed as usual…we have a routine of kissing mommy and cooper (aka = cooper the dooper as molly says)…and then molly and daddy go to “the big girl room” and pray before going to bed…it’s typically daddy asking who we should pray for and then praying…

but a week or so ago molly started to tell daddy that she wanted to pray…only to back out before even starting…until last night…

molly said her first prayer last night…all by herself…

“dear Jesus, i pray for april and alana. ask You, ask You, ask You keep them safe. they go home. pray for jeff. ask You keep him safe. he go home. ok, amen.”

(these are friends of ours from church…they happened to be the last people we said goodbye to, two hours earlier, as we finished up our softball game and they drove off…)

it was awesome…

not only that…molly now has a memory verse that she recites…

galatians 5:13 (said with hand motions that in no way resemble five or thirteen)…mommy and daddy say “serve”…molly says “one another in love”…this is thanks to our children’s ministry at lima community church…miss heidi and miss cindy specifically…not sure how she can say “galatians” and “one another” but can’t say “serve”…but who cares, right!?!

anywhooo…two MAJOR steps taken in molly’s life lately…i had to take the time and share boast

daddy is…

overcome with price once again!!!

CRAZY is good!!!

crzy-love

sooo, in the last year or so i have tried to pick up my reading a bit…i’ve never been one that just loves to read…but i know that i need to…it keeps my mind churning…makes me think…and the books i read really challenge me in my walk with Christ…the book i am reading now is no acception!!!

i’m reading crazy love by francis chan…francis is well known for pastoring cornerstone church in simi valley, ca…he has also spoken at several passion events…and is an author as well…i watch his video podcast regularly!!!

but i wanted to share a few thoughts that are really challenging me this week…these will give you a glimpse of how good this book is…they are part of chapter four “profile of the lukewarm”…

LUKEWARM PEOPLE say they love Jesus, and He is, indeed, a part of their lives. But only a part. They give Him a section of their time, their money, and their thoughts, but He isn’t allowed to control their lives.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE are moved by stories about people who do radical things for Christ, yet they do not act. They assume such action is for “extreme” Christians, not average ones. Lukewarm people call “radical” what Jesus expected of all His followers.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE feel secure because they attend church, made a profession of faith at age twelve, were baptized, come from a Christian family, vote Republican, or live in America. Just as the prophets in the Old Testament warned Israel that they were not safe just because they lived in the land of Israel, so we are not safe just because we wear the label Christian or because some people persist in calling us a “Christian nation.”

LUKEWARM PEOPLE probably drink and swear less than average, but besides that, they really aren’t very different from your typical unbeliever. They equate their partially sanitized lives with holiness, but they couldn’t be more wrong.

i know that there have been times in my life where these statements were true of me…especially that last one…i chose which areas of my life to keep “sanitized” and then others i could’ve cared less about…and usually the sanitized parts were the ones that were visible to everyone else…

i’ve been challenged this week to make sure that these words do not describe me…to step back and look at my life once again…

i highly recommend this book to you…and i’m only in chapter four!!!

CRAZY is good!!!

how He loves us…

sooo, today i was reading through some of the blogs that i try to keep up with…and i came across this post…some thought provoking stuff there, especially for a christian musician…

i couldn’t pass that up…i had to check it out…GLAD I DID!!!

this is not the original artist…but it’s a great version of the song…it’s kim walker singing…

i never cease to be amazed at how much God loves us…at the grace and mercy He shows me each and every day…i’m going to stop typing and get back to listening to this song…

how He loves us…

sunday setlists…LIVE…take five…

sooo, this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…go check it out!!!

i was back for week five in the LIVE services of lima community church…i did however had saturday night off, and only lead the two sunday services…

this week we started off with a short “jam session” if you will…then we rolled into our video announcements and our meet and greet time…and we were off…

1. everyone (praises)…by ross parsley

2. everlasting God…by lincoln brewster

then there was a short video our tech staff put together…it was a reading of revelation four…the words came across the screen as they were read…i switched over and played keys through the reading…

3. revelation song…by gateway worship

in both of the sunday services we had a ministry time at this point…and then we took up the offering…

4. i’m letting go…by francesca battistelli

then we had our message given by the lead pastor, dan huckins…and at the end of his message he introduced a new staff member…he finished up by answering questions that people in the service had text messaged in…

5. everyone (praises) REPRISE…

this weekend was a little odd for me…it’s not so simple coming in on sunday morning, when i wasn’t there the night before…there is another person leading worship and though we try to lay the songs out and not completely confuse the band…there are still subtle differences that can create confusion…there were also a couple of late additions to the service that i needed to figure out…in the end it all came together just fine…

the first service is normally a little more reserved…NOT this week…they were up on their feet and clapping during the jam session…which was slightly squelched when we went into the video announcements…the second service was the more reserved service this week…but only for the first 10 minutes or so…it was somewhat of a curveball, maybe more like a change-up…

i did introduce “revelation song” this weekend(i told you i would)…WOW…i have to say that the video really set up the song…i had them fade to black…turn off side screens…and have the scripture roll across our BIG center screen…i asked for a black screen with white letters…and the tech staff came through big time…i had several people tell me that it was a very powerful video…though it was VERY SIMPLE!!! the people responded well in both services…i can see this song becoming a church favorite very quickly…

sooo there you have it…
