launching purple cows…

tribes_01

sooo, i’m reading through this book right now by seth godin…it’s the second book i’m going through in the last month…and i can’t put this one down!!!

i wanted to take the time to share a little section of the book with you…

Worth Criticizing

A remarkable product or service is like a purple cow. Brown cows are boring; purple onese are worth mentioning. Those ideas spread; those organizations grow. The essence of what’s happening in the market today revolves around creating purple cows.

    Here’s the marketing math:

    Ideas that spread, win.

Boring ideas don’t spread. Boring organizations don’t grow.

Working in an environment that’s static is no fun.

Even worse, working for an organization that is busy fighting off change is horrible.

So why haven’t you and your team launched as many purple cows as you’d like?  (pp. 45-46)

sooo, chew on that for a while would ya…i am!!!

launching purple cows…

the first time!!!

leading-the-source

sooo, my life has seemed to be nothing but a tailspin for the last three six weeks…and i’m not real sure when this is going to stop, or change in any way…sooo i’m just holding on for dear life and taking in all that God is doing…tonight i want to share a small piece of that with you tonight…

easter weekend was my last sunday to be leading worship in the source…(i have been asked to move across the parking lot and start leading worship for the three live services each weekend)…it was a tough week for me because i have really enjoyed my time in the source and i will greatly miss both the musicians and the people in the congregation…once the service was over, i just had an uneasy feeling…there were a few technical mistakes and i just didn’t feel like i left on the best note possible…

then i had this conversation this morning…there were three baptisms in the source this past weekend…the last of which had an amazing God story…this guy showed up at lima community church for…

the first time!!!

on easter sunday (just one week prior)…he and his wife were not sure where to go, but saw people coming in for the source service, so they came in…through everything in the service, and more so the work of the Holy Spirit, he received Christ at the conclusion of the message!!!

monday rolled around and he called in to the church to inquire about getting baptized…and this past sunday he was!!!

i had NO CLUE…and i’m convicted once again…not…

the first time!!!

that God is sooo much bigger than me and the mistakes that i make…he’s sooo much bigger than anything my mind can comprehend…PRAISE God for that!!!

this guy is now living with hope and peace for…

the first time!!!

underestimated!?!

coffee_pencil

sooo, this woman has taken the world by storm…whether it’s a news story or the video on youtube…you can’t get away from her!!!

i watched the video and was absolutely amazed…you MUST take 7 minutes and watch this!!!

underestimated!?!

or check out her new website, due to her new found fame…

i have been reminded of how often i underestimate God…i underestimate what He is capable of doing…i even underestimate what He is capable of doing in and through my life!!!

underestimated!?!

absolute amazement!!!

cooper1

sooo, this past weekend was eventful to say the least…i really don’t know where to begin in describing what all transpired…but i’m going to do my best!!!

i had a week full of rehearsals leading up to our kidstuff easter program…it was a very busy week…and in the midst of that, i was also singing for a wedding…two friends of ours from our journey community at church…it seemed like all i was doing was learning music!!!

saturday rolls around and my world was ROCKED!!!

i go to the wedding…dress rehearsal for kidstuff…kidstuff program…and GO HAVE A BABY(kasey had the baby of course and he was 2 1/2 weeks early)!!! what?!?!?!? 11:50pm on 4/4/09, cooper george mckanna announced his arrival with some STRONG lungs!!!

mommy-and-cooper

about 30 minutes later mommy was ready to go…you would’ve never guessed that she had given birth to our son…she was up walking around and cooper was doing great too…daddy, was in…

absolute amazement!!!

not to mention the fact that i was tired exhausted…and i didn’t even give birth!!!

about 45 minutes later kasey told me she really wanted me back at church in the morning…there wasn’t a whole lot that i could do at the hospital and i would only need to be gone for a few hours…we had two more kidstuff programs to do…

sooo, after about  4 hours of sleep…back home to get ready and off to church for two kidstuff programs…i don’t know how, but God gave me strength and energy to get through…and i am sooo glad because it was great to be a part of kidstuff again and experience the passion our staff and volunteers have for children!!!

tonight my eyelids are heavy…and i’m spent…but i look back at this weekend with tears in my eyes to think of the God i serve…the Creator of all things…my Savior…and the only thing i can think of to describe it…

absolute amazement!!!
