sunday setlists…take twenty-nine…

leading-the-source

sooo here we go again…this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…go check it out!!!

this post is in regards to the happenings of the source this past weeke…sooo here we go…

1. …we opened up with a little off-the-cuff instrumental in A…

then we ran our video announcements for the week…

2. here is our King…by david crowder

3. Your grace is enough…by matt mahar

4. all we need…by charlie hall

then our venue pastor came up and made fun of our band for being driven by testosterone…(no females this week)…and we took our weekly coffee break…this lead into week two of our series on the final 24 hours of Jesus’ life…this lead to a ministry/response time and our offering…

5. amazing grace (my chains are gone)…by chris tomlin

our service could not have run any smoother in my opinion… there was good attendance and great energy in the room…transitions were great…the people really seemed to respond…we have decided that putting the announcements up front works best…it allows the late-comers to get there and not miss as much (knowing that most people don’t really pay attention to announcements)…

it was a different week with no female vocals…also having a “newer” worship leader at our church co-lead with me…it was good to mix things up a little bit…it was good to just hang out and sing some harmony too…

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…take twenty-nine…

this post is in regards to the happenings of the source this past weeke…sooo here we go…

1. we won’t be quiet…by david crowder band

then we had our video announcements and offering set up by our host, brian romine…he is going to be the pastor of our new off-site venue for lima community church…

2. nothing but the blood…by matt redman

then brian came back up and introduced a guest speaker from extreme nazarine ministries…we went into our weekly coffee break…and we started the video message from our lead pastor dan huckins…he set up communion in his message and we broke from the video to partake in it…

3. sweetly broken…by jeremy riddle

then we took the elements together and finished out the video message…

4. mighty to save…by hillsong united

then our host came up and dismissed everyone…

wow, this was a service order that i would never repeat again, if at all possible…there were too many transitions and i never felt like we got into a groove…it just seemed too chopped up with things…on top of that i was without the two leaders that are usually along side of me…though our guest host did a GREAT job…it was a reminder that we can’t do things alone…

everything went well…there were no MAJOR problems (although my guitar was unplugged from the DI and i couldn’t exactly get to it during the song), it just seemed awkward for some reason…the people really seemed to respond through the communion and then singing mighty to save at the end…that helped me get over the awkwardness i was feeling…

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…take twenty-eight…

two things…

coffee_pencil

sooo, things just seem to be a little extra crazy in my life right now…way too many things going on at one time…and the one thing that is getting neglected (because it really isn’t that important in the scheme of things) is my blog…so if anyone actually reads it on a regular basis, sorry…

but this morning during my study time, i was really hit with something…two things actually…sooo, i just had to share it real quick…

i was studying for a lesson that i am teaching this sunday…and i was reading in luke 6…and this morning i read through verses 6-11…

6 On another Sabbath day, a man with a deformed right hand was in the synagogue while Jesus was teaching. 7 The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees watched Jesus closely. If he healed the man’s hand, they planned to accuse him of working on the Sabbath. 8 But Jesus knew their thoughts. He said to the man with the deformed hand, “Come and stand in front of everyone.” So the man came forward. 9 Then Jesus said to his critics, “I have a question for you. Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” 10 He looked around at them one by one and then said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored! 11 At this, the enemies of Jesus were wild with rage and began to discuss what to do with him.

Jesus heals a man’s hand on the sabbath…nothing real exciting at first glance…Jesus was healing people left and right during his ministry…but i read back through it a couple more times and was challenged with…

two things…

1) the boldness and faith of the man with the deformed hand…Jesus was teaching…in the synagogue of all places…and this man comes in…he knew that Jesus alone was able to bring him healing…he wanted healing…sooo, he thought this was a great opportunity…not too many people would have this kind of boldness…but we should!!!

2) Jesus met the need right then and there…He didn’t get annoyed and tell the man to leave Him alone…He didn’t tell the man that He would pray about it and get back with him…He didn’t ignore the man…He saw that the man had a  need that He could meet…and He met his need…

sooo, nothing earth shattering…but it was challenging none the less…i need to be bold with God about my true needs…and when there are those with a need that i can meet…i need to meet that need…there you have it…

two things…

sunday setlists…take twenty-seven…

sooo here we go again…this is another post submitted as a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…it’s a weekly hot spot for worship leaders to blog about what all happened in their weekend services…go check it out!!!

this post is in regards to the happenings of the source this past weekend…i am sooo late this week it’s not funny…soooo here we go…

1. i am free…by ross parsley

then we had our video announcements and a welcome/prayer time…

2. Hosanna…by starfield

3. Jesus Messiah…by chris tomlin

4. Healer…by michael guglielmucci

then we had a prayer by the host, darren long…then we went right into our weekly coffee break…and on to the message which was given by our head pastor, dan huckins…the message was focused on a recent “reveal survey” that was done by those who attend lima community church

after the message we went into our offering time…

5. go tell it…by lee mcderment

great service overall…we had some beautiful weather outside, especially for ohio…this means our crowd was back up in size…sad but true…things seemed to go rather smooth in regards to the music…

however there were several things that seemed to come up at the last minute with the service…no coffee cups…no devotional handouts…no survey handouts…but it all worked out…it’s just funny because this is what seems to happen when there are two part-time people leading the service, in addition to their families and full-time jobs…God is always faithful…

sooo there you have it…

sunday setlists…take twenty-seven…
