party with Jesus!!!

sooo, i was invited to take part in a “party with Jesus”, this friday night…at first i wasn’t exactly sure what that was…and to be honest i just wasn’t interested…my life is already packed full of being a husband, a father, working two jobs, and doing homework for my masters…then i found out that what i was being asked to do, was lead everyone at this party, in some time of praise and worship…this meant that i was going to have to prepare some music…more time required…so i said no…i just didn’t have time…

but then i met some of the people that were going to be taking part in this party…it’s for all of the staff and volunteers in the children’s ministry at lima cc…and in meeting some of these people i felt great conviction…they had passion to serve God with the gifts and abilities that He has given them…even when there was more time required…i need to be doing the same thing!!!

so i sent this text message to the pastor who had originally asked me to take part…i told him that if it wasn’t too late, i wanted to do it…no matter what exactly they wanted me to do…i just wanted to be a part of what was going on in children’s ministry…wouldn’t you know, they didn’t have anyone else lined up yet…

sooo, this friday night…i’m going to…

party with Jesus!!!

all of the staff and volunteers that wouldn’t normally get to take part in a weekend gathering…in “big church”…are going to do just that…in “big church”…i have no idea how many people will be there…but i know One person that will be…i’m asking for His presence to be evident as we read scripture and sing…i’m asking Him to change lives…to renew strength…to renew passion…to bless those who give of their time and energy week after week…especially when there is more time required

i’m excited SOOO PUMPED to see what God has in store for all of us…i can’t wait to…

party with Jesus!!!

sooo, here we are again…another week of joining in the madness over on fred’s blog…take the time to go check out what other worship leaders and churches are doing in their weekend services…

for the purposes of this blog…i’m posting what all went on in the source this past weekend…it was another weekend full of snow…and for the most part unexpected snow…so here we go…

1. we won’t be quiet…by david crowder band

2. marvelous light…by charlie hall

3. here is our king…by david crowder band

4. reign in us…by starfield

then we went into our announcement/offering time hosted by our venue pastor

5. my Jesus i love Thee…the original hymn (my own arrangement, acoustic with an added chorus)

this rolled into one last announcement and our weekly coffee break…which was followed up by a message from our guest speaker…christina ryan claypool…she shared her personal story of overcoming abuse and having an abortion…she related that to all sin and how we each have a struggle…she was speaking on “sanctity of life sunday”…

6. healer…by michael guglielmucci (acoustic)

once again we had a good sized crowd…especially with the second week of snow and the extremely frigid temperatures we have had all week!!! i can’t really put my finger on it, but things just seemed a little akward…i just didn’t feel at ease all morning…i had thought about a last minute song change and then went back to what was scheduled…i just wasn’t confident like normal…but God was faithful and definitely working in the lives of people…it was very powerful message!!!

so there you have it…

sooo, in the past couple weeks i have really been sitting and chewing on psalm 5…and i’ve been confused by some things…i’ve been humored by some things…and i’ve been challenged by some things!!!

david comes before God is a very bold, and what appears to me to be emotional, manner…he is demanding that God hear him and help him…then he goes into a short time of reminding God of His nature and the things that He would stand against… and he says this in verse 6…

You will destroy those who tell lies. The Lord detests murderers and deceivers. (NLT)

i was really challenged by the fact that david seems to be saying that liars are worse than murderers…or at least that God has a stronger dislike for them…i’ve had a couple great discussions about this verse with people in the last couple weeks…i would love to hear your take on it all…but one thing that was mentioned in both of my discussions, was the impact of telling lies…it can cause much greater damage…it can cause much longer lasting damage…and more often than not it leads to more and more lies…

then i love what happens next…david acknowledges the fact that he is nothing without God…i think he is remembering the lies and the murder that he took part in…but he is telling us what God has done in his life…he’s telling us what it causes him to do…verse 7…

because of Your unfailing love, i can enter Your house; i will worship at your Temple with deepest awe. (NLT)

sooo, i was AM extremely challenged by this…how often to i really take the time to remember what God has done in my life…and when i do actually do that…how often does it cause me to worship Him…and not just worship, but worship with deepest awe…i mean…

DEEPEST AWE

this past sunday i was there…i was in awe of what God was doing in the source…i was in awe of what God allows me to be a part of each and every week…we didn’t do anything new…no tricks or off the wall things to bring people in…there was nothing done that we could take credit for or really pinpoint for that matter…people just came and God’s presence was evident…He was at work…and all i could do was soak it all in and smile…i was worshiping Him with…

deepest awe…

what is it that causes you to worship this way??? what reminds you of Who God is??? what has God done in your life to cause you to worship Him with…

deepest awe…

sooo, i was back in the source this weekend and LOVING it… it was a crazy day, with lots of snow, God showed up bigger than the snow!!!

i’m posting my setlist today as apart of the awesome stuff that is going on over on fred’s blog…go check it out and see what other churches and worship leaders are doing in their weekend services…and to check back later this week on what God has been doing and what all He has been showing me…

here we go…

sunday setlists…take nineteen…

1. i am free…by ross parsley (first half of the song through the instrumental break)

baby dedication time…

2. i am free…by ross parsley (finished out the song…verse, chorus, chorus)

3. mighty to save…by hillsong united

4. Jesus paid it all…as performed by kristian stanfill

5. amazing grace (my chains are gone)…by chris tomlin

then we went into our announcements, and offering time…the 60 second video announcements did not work…it was great…the venue pastor just rolled with it and we went into the offering song…

6. Your love is deep…by jami smith

then we went into our weekly coffee break and had our video message from the head pastor, dan huckins…great message on worry and also on getting everything out of  our “box”, so that all that is left in the box is Christ and what He has for us…

let me just say that sunday morning was a blast…you wouldn’t have known it, had you talked with me in the midst of it…but it was…we had a female vocalist singing for the first time and she ROCKED!!! i pulled out a change in keys and instruments on saturday night at 9:00pm…don’t recommend that at all…but the band ROCKED!!! God showed Himself gracious and faithful that is for sure!!!

despite all of the snow outside…the venue pastor and volunteers were pulling chairs out of every classroom and office they could find…we were busting at the seams, which adds to the excitement of what God was doing…the theme this week for the source was “deepest awe”…(check back later this week and i’ll explain…)

sooo, there you have it…
