sunday setlists…take sixteen…

cropped-leading-worship.jpg

sooo, i’m back at it this week…participating in the madness over on fred’s blog…make sure you stop over and see what other churches are doing during their services…i could post a couple setlists this week, thanks to our Christmas eve service coming up in a couple days…but i’m going to stick to one for now…this is our setlist for the source this week…

1. awesome is the Lord most high…by chris tomlin

here i did a quick welcome/meet and greet

2. salvation is here…by joel houston

3. everlasting God…as performed by lincoln brewster

4. Jesus Messiah…by chris tomlin

then we went into our offering, video announcements, live announcements, and our weekly coffee break…this lead into a message by our head pastor, from hebrews 10…POWERFUL message!!! there was a short break in the message…

5. here with us…by joy williams

then the head pastor closed out his message…there was an awesome response from the congregations during the ministry time at the end…i played through the chorus of “here with us” again…the venue pastor did a quick benediction and reminded everyone of the Christmas eve service…and we did “here with us” again as the people were leaving…

it was one of the worst weeks i’ve had in a long time…anything and everything that could go wrong with the music did…not only that i was playing rythm electric for the first time, using a guitar i had never used…and then on wednesday we were asked to add “here with us”…i just knew that the service was going to be awesome!!!

this morning the drummer forgot his sticks…the bass didn’t have a strap…and the lead player couldn’t remember an intro to any of the songs to save his life…during the first song of the service, the smoke machine went off all on it’s own…the drummer couldn’t see or breath, let alone keep with me on the tempo…

but God still moved…people still responded…and it was an AWESOME service!!!

sooo there you have it…

  1. Oh my Jon Mark–sounds like a technically challenging day., Glad that you can see the BIG PICTURE in it all.

  2. I love this kind of testimony. Not only because I can identify with having that kind of week so clearly, but because I love that God always always always uses our desire to serve Him in spite of ourselves. Yay!

  3. i told our venue pastor all week that this sunday was going to be awesome…God is SO MUCH BIGGER than me, my problems, and definitely my talent!!!

    thanks for stopping by!!!

  4. Sounds liek a challenge. I had one of those weeks myself. It’s great when things turn out well “in spite” 0f those roadblocks!

  5. Your not alone we had a crazy week technically speaking as well. Everything worked out fine, God is always faithful!

  6. Wow that is a lot of crazy things happening at once but that’s why we need our Lord and why is so great. Awesome setlist! I guess Jesus Messiah is the hot song, right now!

  7. Oh man!! Rough morning for sure…I’m glad God worked and that you all kept going! Our electricity went on and off many times in rehearsal…thankfully it stayed on during the service so our powerpoints were on for the songs. You should do “We Shine” by Fee…it’s fast but the church and band all LOVED it!!!! A new favorite!

  8. Really interesting to hear a common thread of victory over technical and physical challenges.
    God simple shines through!
I had even forgotten our ‘technical difficulties”.
Curtains kept changing positions, candy cane lights kept getting unplugged when moving the Santa platform and the Christmas tree only lit half way during service.
    Thanks for sharing…
