selfish…me…come on!?!

sooo, this last week has been a killer for me…for some reason God has been showing me over and over and over and over again, areas that need work…and in each of those situations there has been a common root to the problem…selfishness!!! literally every morning in my prayer time there is another area that just pops in my head…maybe a situation i was facing or something that i had been thinking about…selfishness…every where i turn…selfishness…

for instance…molly has learned a new phrase that she says quite frequently…”no molly’s”…when i say quite frequently, i mean ALL THE TIME…and then yesterday we went to a “luncheon”…it was a part of domestic violence awareness and there were different agencies in town that deal with this on a daily basis…each person was given a small card with a “bill of rights”…it listed out rights that each person has…and number two on the list was…”you have the right to think of yourself first”…the opposite of what God has been telling me over and over again…not exactly what His word says either…

then this morning i’m reading through this book…great book…number 12 on the top 100 list of best selling books on amazon this week…it was in the top five when it first came out…and here’s what it said…

“There are two main reasons why people are rude: ignorance and selfishness. Neither, of course, is a good thing. A child is born ignorant of etiquette, needing lots of help and training. Adults, however, display their ignorance at another level. You know the rules, but you can be blind to how you break them or be too self-centered to care. In fact, you may not realize how unpleasant you can be to live with…

If you’re thinking that your spouse-not you-is the one who needs work in this area, you’re likely suffering from a bad case of ignorance, with a secondary condition of selfishness…” (pages 22-23)

i mean seriously…it’s everywhere i turn…

so my focus right now is on how i can serve those around me…how i can get my mind off of myself and on the needs of those around me…it’s not easy…it’s not real fun…but it’s definitely something that i need to do…i’m starting with the simple things…things that are so easily overlooked at times…

selfish…me…come on!?!

yup!!!

sunday setlists…take eight…

sooo, this is a part of the craziness over on fred’s blog…i’ve been a part of this for the majority of the time he has been doing this…people from all over share what goes on in their services at church and how it went…pretty cool to see each week…

this is what went on with the source this past weekend…it’s a video venue service of lima community church

1. here is our King…by david crowder

2. marvelous light…by charlie hall

3. you never let go…by matt redman

this was followed up by our video announcements and the weekly coffee break…we are nearing the end of our series on love and marriage…with the focus of this week on fighting in marriage…we played a roll-in song…

4. love is not a fight…by warren barfield

following the message…communion was set up and we did…

5. Healer…as performed by hillsong united

overall the service “went well”…but numbers and energy were way down…there was confusion in where communion was supposed to be done…things just seemed a little out of order for us…i’m blaming it on the great weather we had?!? hopefully those in the service did not feel/see things the same way that i did…more than anything i pray that God was brought honor and glory!!!

there you have it…

sunday setlists…take eight…

sooo, let’s hear it…it’s…

thankful thursday!!!

i just saved a ton of money…and it wasn’t on car insurance!!!

sooo, to those of you who have been around this blog for awhile…or know me rather well…you know that i am a father…and to make a long story short…there was a rather lengthy process of prayer, doctors, medications, and well you know…but after a little over two and a half years kasey and i were able to conceive…and along came molly!!! (not to be confused with the movie about polly…)

after molly was born we were not sure what to do exactly…we knew that we both wanted to have more children, but not right away…and we weren’t sure if we would have to go through the whole process of doctors and medicine all over again…after about a year, we decided to set up and appointment with the specialist that we had seen for molly and ask him what to do…that was little over a month ago…

basically we were set up with the same medications…the first of which did not work…

sooo, we were given a script for the series of shots that were similar to those kasey took a couple years ago…pricetag…$1,200.00…we decided that we would start saving up for them and as soon as we had the money together we would order them…the doctor’s office would call every other week to see where we were at with the whole thing…

about a week ago i was at the church at 3:30am helping with angelfood ministries…then i went went out to breakfast with the guys to refuel from all of our work…or for waking up so early!?! when i got home kasey was acting a little strange…after a few minutes of being home i asked her if there was something wrong…she said, “well aren’t you going to go back to the bathroom”…being the man that i am, i thought about how i didn’t really need to go…but then this light turned on in my head…sure enough she had taken a “test” and she “passed” it!!!

kasey set up an appointment with the doctor…long story short, once again…we saw little mckanna #2 today for the first time…little mckanna #2 is eleven weeks and four days old according to the nurse…can i just say that GOD IS AWESOME!!! YES i can because this is my blog…HE IS AWESOME!!! if your math and reading retention are good, you will know that kasey was expecting when we went to the specialist…all the while God was sitting up on the throne smiling from the east to the west…

so today is a great day…as are all the others…but i’m going crazy today…i absolutely love being a parent…all of the joy that it brings to live…all of the lessons that God is teaching me…and the countless ways that God has blessed me through molly…i can’t really put it into words…now it’s going to be doubled!!! anywho…i should stop now…

the least of my excitement is because…

i just saved a ton of money…and it wasn’t on car insurance!!!
