I’m thankful that I picked up three people’s shifts at Kohl’s this week. I’m thankful for these things because that means I can start paying my own bills again, and making some headway on my student loans. I’m thankful that God is continuing to give me direction on where He wants me to be in Nicaragua. I’m thankful for the new relationships I am building with teachers and principals in the schools here, as well as with the director of Nicaragua Christian Academy. I’m thankful that my family is being encouraging in my decision to go. I’m thankful that before my brother left for the war this week I was able to talk to him on the phone. I’m also thankful that the same brother apologized for persecuting my faith in the past, and told me that even if he doesn’t share it, he respects it. I’m thankful for the opportunity I had to teach at the Lima Rescue Mission last week. I’m thankful for God bringing someone new to Refine this week. I’m thankful that no matter who wins this election coming up, God is still in control. I’m thankful that gas prices went down a bit. I’m thankful that I got to see two people baptized at church on Sunday, because I love celebrating new faith. I’m thankful that I have a roof over my head, food in my mouth, clothes on my back, and gas in my car. I’m thankful for Pastor Mike’s Sunday School class because it’s really interesting to see different people’s perspectives and hear their questions. I’m thankful that we are having Girl’s Night soon. I’m thankful that my friend made it safely to Thailand, my other friend made it safely to the Philippines, and my other friend made it safely home from Bluefields. I’m thankful that my brother made it safely to Afghanistan. I’m thankful that God has brought Pastor Mike and Dr. Grunden into my life to raise me up and guide me as I prepare to go into long term missions. I’m thankful that Daniel Ortega kept his election promises, and did not return to his old ways of ruling the country of Nicaragua under religious persecution and communism. I’m thankful that there will be hot water in the shower when I finally get out of bed. I’m thankful that I got to sleep in today because I’m working an afternoon half day and all night at Kohl’s. I’m thankful that I feel like my focus is completely on God and what He wants in my life, and that He’s shown me once I am faithful, He will do the rest. I’m thankful that it is finally sweater weather. I’m thankful for the leaves changing colors. I’m thankful for all the blessings that God has in store for me that I don’t yet know about, and for the assurance that when trials come He will take me through them.
