sooo, recently i have been challenged by this 17 month old girl that i know…she goes by molly, molly kay, doodle bug, little boss…just to name a few…but as i’ve mentioned before, there are sooo many things that you can learn in being a parent…this is no exception to that!!!
kasey and i have made a habit of eating dinner at home each night…or at least 90% of the time we do…and each time we have dinner we pray before we eat…kasey and i would hold hands and try to hold the little boss’…but that usually doesn’t go so good, she just wants to eat, and eat NOW!!! but she developed this little habit that at first was pretty funny to me…now it’s challenging me…
you see, each time i pray with her, i always end it the same…i say “in Jesus’ name”…and then i pause a little and say “amen” hoping that one day she would say it for me…but she has a whole different outlook to the end of the prayer…she says, “yeah” and she starts clapping her hands…when you hear it and see the look on her face, you think it is the cutest thing ever!!! (side note – now if we put our hands out, she grabs ahold and looks down…sooo cute!!!)
but maybe she has something there…her face has it written from ear to ear…she is expecting great things once that prayer is done…no sooner do i get the last word out of my mouth, if i even get it out, and she is ready to go…she is yelling and clapping like you wouldn’t believe…now granted for her, she is expecting the food to start making its way to her mouth…and she’s expecting that food to be awesome (when mommy cooks, not so much when daddy tries)…but i think she has something!!!
sooo, i’ve been challenged in my prayer time to expect great things…to be ready for God to come through BIG TIME!!! sooo…what is it that God has placed on your heart??? who is it that is in need of prayer??? let’s pray and expect great things…let’s say…
yeah in advance!!!

What a great illustration straight from Molly! At our house she is now “maw-ee”.
A Pastor told us that he was asked to meet in the town square with a bunch of other pastor’s to pray for rain. I guess it was during a dry spell and the rain was very needed. This pastor told us he grabbed his umbrella and took off for the meeting. When he got there he looked around and decided to leave. One of the men turned to him and asked where he was going. He told him, “noone here is really praying and expecting any rain to come.” The man asked him how he knew? He told him…”because I’m the only one who brought my umbrella.”
Kinda the same thing! Are we saying Amen…knowing God is going to do HUGE things in us, through us and around us!?
We should all be more like molly!
I often cheer for God. Cause darn it, He is just soooo amazing!
