thankful thursday!!!

sooo, it’s thursday morning and i’m doing the usual thing of visiting st. arbucks on my way to work…molly is up and to the babysitter’s…mommy is on her way to pick up her grande skinny vanilla latte from my table…it’s definitely thursday…and we’re definitely routine people!!! can you tell??? but not only that…it’s thankful thursday!!!

this week i’m thankful for air conditioning…i’m thankful for God’s provision in our lives…i’m thankful for all of the “new” things that molly is doing…i’m thankful that the hurricanes are not doing the damage that they could be doing…i’m thankful for a cooler morning this morning on my way to work…i’m thankful for church leadership that is constantly looking forward, planning for the future, and communicating that to the rest of the body…i’m thankful for all that kasey does with molly and at home while i am in meetings and working in the evenings…i’m thankful for getting to visit with my friend maximus on thursday mornings while he waits at the st. arbucks to go to school (he likes games on computers!!!)…i’m thankful for the new paint and new carpet they are putting in my office (today???)…i’m thankful for children that always seem to make me smile and think of more things to be thankful for…

sooo, let’s hear it…no lurking…what are you thankful for today???

it’s…

thankful thursday!!!

a father’s ears…

sooo, last night kasey went over to a young ladies apartment to help her clean…that means it’s daddy and molly at home hanging out…which in turn means there’s music involved in some way shape or form…this time daddy just had to lower the keyboard and bring out a mic for molly…i’m a little biased, but i have to say that she is the most adorable child that God ever created…i pulled up a chair and away she went…

i’m not real sure what molly loved more…daddy letting her pound away on the keys or having her own microphone…but either way she was having a blast…and so was daddy!!! at one point she had to take a quick break and she took off out to the living room…she returned with her “blanky” in her mouth and she immediately went right back to it…only now the singing was a little hindered…if you look closely at the picture below you can even see this infamous “blanky”…

now, to anyone outside of our home this sound was i’m sure quite annoying…some may have even wondered what was going on exactly…but to me, it was beautiful…my little girl was singing to daddy…and my ears were tuned in to every last note!!!

sooo it is in the middle of the night as well…about a week or two ago molly was crying…at 2:30am!!! kasey and i are clear on the other side of the house…molly’s door is closed…and the air conditioner is running…but daddy’s ears were tuned in…and i was up and running over to see what wrong…here she was stuck, both of her legs out through the slats in her crib, with legs crossed up…i got her legs free and tried to soothe her, but this was no use…she wanted daddy to hold her…so i picked her up and we sat in the rocker until she fell back asleep…

i can’t say that i really know why…but God was just telling me that no matter how far away i may feel…no matter how many boundaries there seems to be in between us…He still hears my voice…He is still there, tuned in, and ready to listen to me…He is still ready to help me…He is still there to hold me…and no matter what it sounds like to me it’s beautiful in His ears, when His son is singing to Him…

after posting this, this morning…i was asked about a song…i found this video to it and just had to add it here…check out the words…”i called, You answered. and You came to my rescue. and i wanna be where You are…” great stuff!!!

sunday setlists…take four…

sooo, i’m back again with another week of the sunday setlists…i have to say that i enjoy this…i enjoy seeing what others are doing and receiving feedback…it gets the wheels turning each week and gives me new fresh ideas…thanks to fred once again for setting it up on his blog…GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

this week was a “different” week for us in the Source…in the month of august there were five sundays…that can be a good thing on one hand, but it can burn out musicians on the other hand…especially when you consider how much they are being used, in addition to having full-time jobs and families at home…i try to be very conscious of this…

with all that being said…there are three female vocalists that will sing and lead in the Source…they had asked about all being able to sing together, because usually it’s just me singing with one of them each week…sooo, that’s what we did…the band was downsized to keys and lead with a full drum set, “different” all the way around…but it worked!!!

1. Mighty to Save… by Hillsong United

2. Love Me Like You Do… by Vinyard

3. Hallelujah (What a Savior)… by Vicki Beeching

4. Enough… as performed by Barlow Girl

then we broke for our video announcements…we had a set up for the offering and prayer for it, as well as for missions through our church…

5. Never Alone… By Barlow Girl

then we broke for our usual coffee break and rolled right into the message…

there ended up being a lot of things going on sunday, most of which we found out last minute, most of which is due to being a video venue…we made adjustments where we could make adjustments and things went rather well…i would not recommend making a habit of playing with keys and lead only…that was a bit of a stretch…i really had to cover bass with my left hand…then the lead was trying to cover two guitar parts with one…but God was GOOD to us and it all came together well…the people really seemed to enjoy having something “different” and having the girls all sing together…

there you have it…

sunday setlists…take four…
