sunday setlists…take two…

sooo, here we are on another monday morning and i’m taking my second shot at sunday setlists…if you have time go check out what other churches and worship leaders are doing…but for purposes of this blog, i will be sharing about our service yesterday morning at the source

this week we started out with a little pre-service groove…it was the lead, bass, and drums with a little funk in d-minor…these guys are so gifted it makes me struggle with envy and jealousy…i’m not kidding!!! then the service itself went as follows…

1. We Won’t be Quiet…by David Crowder Band

2. The Whole Earth…by Starfield

3. Sing to the King…as performed by Candi Pearson Shelton

4. How Great is Our God…by Chris Tomlin (we did not mix in How Great Thou Art)

after a short prayer…the service host came up and set up the video announcements and offering…

5. Beautiful One…by Tim Hughes

next we broke for our weekly coffee break before the video message…during the coffee break and following the message we were playing the album “we are alive” by elevation worship on my ipod. it is there new worship cd that was released on itunes last week…i highly recommend it!!!

the set went great overall and the congregation participation was above their average…but the worship leader??? i got to the second song and my mind went absolutely blank for words to the first verse…i got the first line out and then just went blank…i was able to come back in on the fourth line and finish strong, but i am still beating myself up over that one…this happens from time to time during rehearsal, but not during the service…we even got an extra 30 minutes of sleep due to the youth service…i’m human and i can’t change that right…

so there you have it…

sunday setlists…take two…

thankful thursday!!!

sooo, here we are on another thursday morning…i’ve already been to st. arbucks and devoted with my journal and youversion…it’s a beautiful cool morning outside…and it’s my last day in the office this week…but those aren’t even the things that i am thankful for today…it’s thankful thursday!!!

to get things started, i am thankful today for the strength and energy to get moving this morning, despite a busy week with a lack of sleep…i’m thankful for good health and was reminded of that this morning as i sat at st. arbucks…i’m thankful that molly slept through the night, despite getting two new molars at once!!! i’m thankful for the gift of music and how that can calm me in the midst of stress…i’m thankful for how molly loves to play and sing with daddy…and i’m thankful for encouragement from friends this week!!!

so let’s hear it…

it’s…

thankful thursday!!!

need a little help here…!

okkk, so we have an upcoming series on love and marriage…and i’m looking for some tunes to use at openers or roll-ins for the messages…so far i’m hoping to kick it all off with “you give love a bad name” by bon jovi…i don’t know though, we may not get anyone to come back after that??? so help a brother out…i need love songs…regardless of genre or decade, let me have it…what are your suggestions…

need a little help here…!

sunday setlists…

sooo, there is this guy who i have interacted with some here on the world wide web…he is a man of many trades and talents…with a FULL plate to say the least…and he has started something on his blog called Sunday Setlists…it’s a great way to get connected with worship leaders from all over and see what God is doing in their ministries each week…so i’m going to do my best at joining in…

this week’s setlist was as follows…

1. Everlasting God…as performed by Lincoln Brewster

2. Sweetly Broken…by Jeremy Riddle

3. At the Foot of the Cross…by Kathryn Scott

4. Healer…as performed by Hillsong

we took part in communion during the second and third songs of the setlist…and after the third song i shared about not just laying things down at the foot of the cross, but also letting go of them and leaving them there(hard to do some times)…due to the heaviness of the message on repentance, everyone exited to our lead guitarist “doodling” in F#minor…

so go check out…

Sunday Setlists

we begged…

sooo, tonight was my first service of the weekend…and despite a crazy week and lack of sleep…i was still excited…molly and i had a great time at home together(though we did miss mommy)…and once our friend leigh showed up, i was off to church for rehearsal…

it was fairly typical rehearsal time…nothing out of the ordinary occurred…and then we went to our “tech meeting”…again, nothing major, until we came to prayer time…

brandon really challenged us with what true repentance was and the fact that to be healed spiritually, we need that true repentance to take place…he shared how God has worked leading up to this weekend with the topic and communion and the music…and he shared how he was begging God to bring healing to lives, bodies, marriages…we prayed and we all begged God to move…yes…we begged…

the service started and again nothing out of the ordinary occurred…we came to communion and people were encouraged to take it as a family if they could…and then brandon came up to set up a ministry time, as we sang “Healer”…i was gone before i even got the first word out, but God allowed me to pull it together…i just closed my eyes and focused on Him…then after the first chorus, i decided to look up…NOT GOOD!!! i guess when you beg God…He listens!!!

words can’t really describe what was going on…there wasn’t any room down front…it was a testament to how many people are hurting and seeking God’s healing in their lives…i was supposed to pray after the song and just couldn’t…i looked to brandon and gave him a little nod…

brandon and i spoke after the service…we were both amazed at what had happened…that isn’t the typical reaction of the saturday night crowd!!! he told me that he almost just dismissed everyone before the message…and we just talked about how shocked we were…why??? i told him, i guess that’s what happens when we beg…

maybe we should beg more often!!! we definitely experienced God’s presence tonight…i can’t wait for tomorrow morning!!! i will be begging tonight and tomorrow morning for people to experience God’s healing…
