“the look on her face…”

sooo, this past weekend something HUGE occurred in the mckanna household…i mean this has been long awaited and anticipated…it has been prayed for…and finally it has occurred!!! but there is this debate on when it actually occurred and i may need a little help with the decision…

molly started walking on her own!!!

grandpa claims that this all started on 8/22/08 while she was spending the night with her grandparents…i’m not so sure i can trust the information though…he’s claiming it was all due to the teacher…when i picked her up on 8/23/08 i must admit, i couldn’t believe what i was seeing…molly was all over there house…not the most graceful, but effective none the less…

the problem is…mommy was gone at a conference until sunday night…mommy got to see molly at the funeral home on 8/24/08(while we were there for a viewing for her aunt pat)…there was quite the display…and since i’m not the best of writer’s…i will let you experience what happened, through the writings of a very gifted friend…to keep her from blushing, i won’t tell you who it is…but this is what she observed as mommy got to see molly…

She walked in the funeral home. It had been a long day. No, it had been a long weekend. God had changed the itinerary and she had just gotten home from a long drive and a conference that she needed for a class. Once again, a demand on her body and emotions. But, what should her wandering eyes would appear……a bright eyed, giggling, toddler nearly running to see Mama! The rush of emotions……delight in her new-found independence and accomplishing a “feet” she’d been coaxed to practice for months…..and a tug on her heart as she watched her baby take a few wobbly steps into girlhood. Her baby is growing up before her eyes……..and she missed the magical moment. I’ll never forget the look on her face.

Her mama had been gone for the weekend. She was having fun being spoiled by grandmas and grandpas and Dada and all her fans. The attention was exhilarating and she was star of the show. And what a show she was putting on! Rolling, and giggling and chasing after anything. Can’t you understand my jabber? I’m trying to tell you! What’s that you say? Mama’s home? Where? Let me run to her! Wait til she sees what I can do now!
I’ll never forget the look on her face.

sooo, you let me know what you think…when did she officially start walking 8/22/08…8/23/08…8/24/08…?

and thank you to the anonymous author for the great word picture…i’m still hoping to see your personal blog…or book…!

This looks like a controversial blog to me. I am bummed though that you and Kasey missed out on Molly taking her first steps. I hope she took a few for you at home before the weekend…if so..that’s when she was walking!

She’s beautiful… Absolutely what I loved the most about motherhood. As a working mom, I missed out on alot.

    I say the 22nd!!

Have a great evening or day with your little princess.
