lasting impact…take two!

June 30, 2008 · No Comments

sooo, tonight we had a little birthday party at our house… my great aunt marguerite is in town from grand rapids, mi… and today just so happens to be her birthday… she is in her mid to late 80’s and is the sweetest woman i have ever met in my life… as we were spending time with her tonight it reminded me a recent post… she is definitely someone who has left a lasting impact on my life…

when i was in college she gave me an extremely simple gift… she gave me this book… and i read through it a couple times over and studied the lives of men in the bible and how God used them to do great things… i have to say it has come to mind numerous times in the past few years as i study or hear messages about these men…

then i have been able to watch her interact with molly the last couple of visits… she absolutely loves spending time with molly!!! tonight we read books, ate cake and ice cream, did gymnastics, played the guitar, and danced to the keyboard… when grandma told margauerite it was time to go… she asked if they had to… it was awesome… molly is now leaving a lasting impact on marguerite… she brings great joy and laughter to her life!!!

i’m still being challenged to leave a…

lasting impact

plans…what plans???

June 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

sooo, this past weekend had a theme…every plan that we had made was just blasted out of the water and up onto dry land…it was definitely a weekend where i just had to laugh to keep from becoming irritated…

friday night we were heading down towards columbus to have dinner with my dad and his wife…first the road that i usually take is closed…so i go down to the next road and take it…about 8 miles into the trip, molly is vomiting in the backseat…i pull over and turn on my hazards…kasey is cleaning molly and i am cleaning up the car seat…back on our way…until she did the same thing about 5 miles further down the road…again we pull off, clean up everything the best we can, but then head back home for the night…and she vomited one more time before we got home, just for good measure…once we were home she was fine, no fever, she wasn’t acting funny…?

saturday evening we were all set up to attend a wedding reception (after a GREAT golf scramble!!!) we got all dressed up and ready to go…off we go in the saturn…problem was, we didn’t know exactly where we were going…i go to the union hall i think it’s at…WRONG!!! we make some phone calls and find out that we are no where near it…so we head to applebees for a family dinner, all dressed up of course…we did end up going to the reception much later and only for a very short time…back to the house to hang out!!!

sunday was just a continuation…songs and service orders were literally torn and tossed in our service tech meeting…and GPS service projects were rained out…

all i could do is laugh…everything that could go wrong in our eyes, DID…but at the same time we had a great weekend!!! i’m convinced that God was just trying to tell us to stay home a little more often and not be so busy…?! or maybe he was just reminding us that He is ultimately in control…?!

the fuel of excitement…

June 20, 2008 · 2 Comments

sooo, i’ve now worked my first official week of my new “part-time” job… as i expected the 10 hours was gone with in the first three days of the week and blogging has obviously taken a back seat… but the thing that has stuck out is the excitement of it… there always seems to be excitement in something new… a new child… a new macbook… a new car… a new restaurant… you name it, when there is something new it is always surrounded with excitement…!

this new job would definitely fall in line with this… it’s been exciting for me to schedule people and get things moving on the music side of it as well… it’s been exciting working with new people and just brainstorming about what the service could be like… should be like…?

this morning we met at 6:30am for breakfast and were talking things out… then we went through a conference center/student center that is being constructed from an old movie theater… WOW!!! it’s going to be awesome and has some HUGE potential, not just for the college that owns it, but for the city, and possibly for our church!!! i left there with plenty of excitement!!!

and i noticed that the excitement has given me fuel this week… to go longer on less sleep… to get things done quicker than i would normally… to press on in life and get some areas of life back in gear, that may have been neglected… OK so they WERE neglected…

so what’s been the fuel of excitement in your life???

or do you need some excitement…?

letting the air out…

June 14, 2008 · 2 Comments

sooo, there was some excitement in the air…and now we are letting the air out…it was great to have a 1/2 day off from work and just hang out at home with the two beautiful ladies that God has blessed me with!!! then we headed up to findlay to meet up with kyle and kels before heading to detroit…kels has a great little place, but WOW do they need some air, or at least a breeze!!!

but then off to detroit we went, all the while knowing that the all important weather man was calling for rain…no he was calling for STRONG STORMS…! the way into detroit was more than interesting with all of the abandoned buildings and homeless people…it was a solemn reminder of how much the Lord blesses me each and every day…

then kyle finds us the best parking lot available…it was quite interesting to say the least…! and we were off to the hockeytown cafe where kyle and i tried some amazing root beer! kasey and i even traded meals after we got them…her rueben wasn’t exactly stellar!!! but as we were eating…the RAIN came…and it came in a BIG way…!

but we headed over to the stadium in the rain and walked around for about forty-five minutes…we checked out the team shop and saw the two amusement rides and the memorabilia that was for sale…for some reason i passed on the $300.00 used wooden bats…? finally about 10 minutes before game time we decided to call it a night…the rain was still coming down and the tarp was on the field…plus we had a two hour drive ahead…

we headed to the car as the rain slowed down…and even stopped…! but off to target, bestbuy, and dicks…then on home…! we had a blast, even though our plans were foiled…and the highlight was card shopping at target!!! i am officially scarred for life by the man in daisy dukes…you just have to see it to understand!!!

today we were off to a graduation party and then off to molly’s first swimming party…let’s just say that molly should get to take her nap before we try to make her go in the water next time!!! it was great to catch up with friends and to hang out with “aunt” kathy at her pool!!!

so now we’re just relaxing at the house and…i’m blogging on the back deck with my powerbook and listening to the birds…the big 20 pound cat is watching them and licking his lips…mommy is getting ready for bed and molly is sound asleep…we’re all…
