so today i am still rehashing everything from yesterday’s blog surfing and comments that were left…and there is one thing or more so one passage that is sticking in my head today…so i went back and read through it, trying to gain all of the proper context…i’ve even read through some commentaries on this passage and i’m trying to wrap my head around what it is saying…
here’s the passage…matthew 5:27-30…Jesus is speaking…
27 “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your hand—even your stronger hand—causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
my question is at what point does it become lust??? at what point are you looking “at a woman with lust”??? and this is not because i want to find how far i can go in my mind or anything like that… i would love to hear some feedback on this and see what your thoughts are…???
following up…

I think the point it becomes lust is when we imagine what it would be like. I don’t think there is anything wrong with admiring someone that is beautiful, the problem is when you can’t control yourself to leave it at ‘hey she is beautiful’. That is one of my biggest struggles sometimes. I have to stop myself before my imagination takes over. And the scripture you quoted is one that is played through my mind most often to get myself in check. I thank God that he knows how weak I am. Peace.
I once heard it’s when you look twice. Most of the time you can’t help but see a person for the first time…it’s the second glance, look or stare that counts. Good topic!
