last week i was going through my list of daily reading…blogs…and i came accross this post about oneprayer. it appears that several of the largest churches in the US are going to come together for a four week series. not only that, they are asking any church who is interested to join in with them.
already there are hundreds of churches, in the US and in other countries, that are getting involved and taking advantage of this. on the selfish side of things…pastors can have a break for four weeks from their weekly teaching…you can also listen to some of the most prominant pastors speak…and from what i can tell, it’s FREE!!! beyond the selfish part, you can be challenged and join in as the body of Christ unites. I’M EXCITED to see what God is going to do through this!!!
this whole idea of uniting the body of Christ…it’s nothing new…but it’s not the norm. usually there is a competition, whether real or just felt, between churches. it’s awesome to see pastors coming together…check out this passage.
ephesians 4:1-6
1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all. (NLT)
i personally love vs. 3 where it says, “make every effort to keep yourselves united…” why should we do that? “for there is one body…”
so whether you are a pastor, teacher, or group leader of some sort…CHECK THIS OUT!!!
