the ultimate friend request…

coffee_pencil.jpg

so i just finished up another paper for the course i am taking right now. the purpose of the paper was to further define worship…and i had to answer one of several questions posed…i chose the question, “who initiates worship and why?” i had a book that i was to read to assist in answering the question…i also needed to base my asnwer on examples from scripture…not exactly what i would call a difficult task. i just had to take the time to sit down and get it done…which i did last night!!!

my answer to the question was that God initiates our worship…much of worship as i see it, if not all of worship, is a reponse to Who God is and what He has done for us…therefore He initiated it. i used several passages of scripture and one particular section of the book to back up my answer…and as i finished up it reminded me of this new addiction that i have discovered…

a few months back i joined in on the facebook addiction. the original plan was to create a group on there and use that to communicate among our journey community…well that hasn’t gone over so good, but it has allowed me to catch up with a lot of old friends both from college and from high school. i am reminded about once a week how old i am getting as people calculate the number of years that it has been since we’ve seen eachother or spoken…ugh!!!

one thing that can be kind of exciting, if know anything about facebook, is when people send you a “friend request”…this means that someone has found you on facebook and would like for you to “accept” their friend request…you always have the option to “ignore”…the idea being that only those who “accept” are able to get into your page and see what is going on in your life…they are able to communicate with you on your “wall” and able to see the photos that you post…they are able to see your “status”, letting them know what is going on in your life at the time…

the ultimate friend request…has nothing to do with facebook! but it does have everything to do with the cross…Christ died so that we could “accept” His Father’s friend request and be adopted into His family…so that we could experience the countless blessings He has to offer…so that we could experience His power at work in our lives…so that we could worship Him freely. we can choose to “ignore” and not let God into our lives, but that is a tragic mistake!!!

God initiated my worship…in a BIG way…through His creation…through His sacrifice on the cross…He continues to initiate my worship…through His mercy that is new to me every day…through my wife…through a little 11 month old girl named molly!!!

don’t ignore…

the ultimate friend request…
